So, with every passing day Atlanta just seems to hold less for me. I've been here for FIVE FREAKING YEARS, which is longer than I've ever lived anywhere before. I'm also kind of grouchier than normal and have been pretty distant from most of my friends.
Has anyone here ever just picked up and moved somewhere random and kind of started over again? Honestly, half of the reason for the rut I'm stuck in is my surroundings, IMO anyway.
Any input would be appreciated.

Leave the drugs behind.

I've wanted to do this, but I question the possible results. I'd love to move to Vancouver, New York City, or something.

Dude, I don't do drugs anymore. Hell, I haven't even smoked weed in months. I just like the drinky, and that's never gonna change.

I was kinda kidding, but you can give it all up. I did. I drink on rare occasions now, and it's been that way for years.

Ive thought about doing this as well, probably because I live in Alaska though.

I've hit reset on my life a few times now. Going to do it again next year!

Dude, no shit? I was seriously thinking about moving to Alaska, in large part because it's about as far the fuck away from Georgia as you can get. So, ever get raped by polar bears up there?
-
Maybe that move to San Fran won't be such a bad idea...
-
Polar bears. :(
I'm sure Viz would be one to get raped by the penguins. :-[ :-*

demi, it's better to take a chance and regret something you HAVE done than to not go for it and regret something you HAVEN'T done for years.

I never thought of it that way.

So where does sex fit into all this

Everyday we used to make it love
Why can't we be making love nice and easy
It's time to spread our wings and fly
Don't let another day go by my love
It'll be just like starting over, starting over

I've started over a lot of times. I've finally found where I wanna be tho so THAT SHITS ZOVER BOOYA.
Its never really random tho, and after a while you get used to the relocating and starting over. I think the best part about being able to uproot and move around is that you actually get to make a list of REASONS you love living wherever it is you end up living. You learn to appreciate the places you love that much more. That being said, Greater Seattle Area WA is THE SHIT.

I've only done it once and if it wasn't for my daughter, I'm sure I'd have done it again already.
Move to Houston Triumph. We can hang out. :-*

I have an irrational fear of being a leftist in Texas, mupepe.
However, I have always liked the Pacific NW.

The rights are crazy here sometimes, but it's not too bad. The worse trouble you'll get are annoying ass I VOTED FOR GEORGE BUSH stickers on the back of idiotic teacher, soccer mom, red neck ford truck vehicles.

Houston is full of left wingers. Plus, we can go to South Padre Island. Guaranteed to get laid and beautiful waters.

Going to do just that in a bunch of months. Will move out in a metropolis, and begin ambitious studies. The accomodations are nearly all taken care of.
After a uh... at this point, it's been about a nine-year long calvary, made out of nearly nothing but physical suffering, disappointments and isolation. That will herald the end of it. I constantly feel sweet now, and the remaining chronic fatigue goes away quickly over the months, and is mainly due to a lack of routine.
Of course the biggest hurdle is how quickly someone can establish new contacts from zilch in a whole new place full of strangers, but at least when you're already very occupied it's not that bad to bear solitude a little longer. People find me agreeable and confident, so that should be taken care of relatively quickly.

I'm contemplating moving out to Vancouver once I'm done school. I have a friend out there who will help me get on my feet.
-
I did. Moved to Phoenix a lilttle over 3 years ago after dropping out of college (or they were going to kick me out). Now I'm 1 semester away from graduation and I'm starting to send out applications to law schools.
I basically lucked into a cozy state job a little after I moved here and was able to cut my hours down to 12 a week so I could go back to school. I'd say it worked out amazingly well.

Try the NYC thing. Or, fuck it, go traveling for awhile. Check out Europe and the Middle East, go bum around Asia or something.
