Looks like it could be fun
-
:bow Blackrock :bow2
Shit game confirmed :gloomy
-
That trailer looked pretty fun. How was Pure? I never played it.
-
Pure is fucking awesome.
-
I'll be following this one. If that is what gameplay looks like, I'm hyped. :hyper
-
WOW.
And Blackrock are doing it? :hyper SOLD :hyper
-
so will every race be scripted exactly the same? lap 1 > silo crashes, lap 2 > terminal explodes, lap 3 > plane crashes infront of track? that could be cool the first time but would get kinda lame after awhile.
-
Shit game.
-
Holy shit. Pure is released?
What the fuck, it must be a shit game if I totally forgot about it. Racing games... :/
-
Shit game.
Shit poster.
Shit reply.
-
the gimmick looks like it will get old fast. Other than that it looks fine.
Did anyone else see that Blur footage? not too good

I actually got a bit of Hydro Thunder adventure racing vibe from it. :P That could be a lot of fun.
-
Infinity Ward presents Modern Racing
-
the trailer looks nice, i hope that shit happens real time. i would buy it just for that.
-
Yeah, it sounds like a great idea for multiplayer.
-
but those events will still be pre-canned right? can't imagine they would leave it all to chance of physics.
-
so it's like Burnout Kart but instead of gay shells you get GIANT FUCKING AIRPLANES
-
EXACTLY. It's the timing of your explosions that's important.
-
So you get the ability you get the ability to kill people with an aeroplane and so on? Is that the idea?
If so - most awesome thing ever.
-
sounds better than BLUR
-
What if.... what if this is like Beetle Adventure Racing 2? :omg
-
I just watched the "old" trailer for Split Second, and it makes more sense now, with the whole TV show angle. It's pretty damned hot, really.
-
This may be the first "realistic" racing game I ever buy.
-

gameplay of it
the hud thing is kinda stupid, but the game looks fun
-
I have to admit, I really like the HUD idea. Games like this sometimes falter because you have to take your eyes off the road to view the HUD in a corner of the screen and then you crash or miss a turn. And the gauge is big enough that you don't have to look directly at it.
I wish they would have shown a first-person view though.
-
WTF at the guy asking "is this out now?" SMH, what a goose.
-
Damn that's hot
-
Should be awesome in multiplayer. :hyper
-
And this doesn't come out until almost a year from now? I wonder what will be added by then...
-
i'm still blown away by disney making hardcore games.
-
why does every racing game seem to be set on a planet that has three suns
other than that, looks pretty cool, i actually like the hud
-

:wtf "Hardcore games?" It's arcade action racing with big explosions.
2010!?! God fucking damn it >:(

fast cars, buildings toppling, planes crashing, etc not what i expect from Disney.

that's my concern. I sorta get why they have the HUD like that (even if I still think it's a bit dumb) but how will it look in first person? I always play in first person, and if I don't, I look at the road ahead, not the bumper of my car.

Yeah, I'm kind of baffled that they're going out of their way to make games that aren't tied into their existing Disney characters, worlds, or other IP. I mean, Pure could just have easily come out as Toon Town Karts: Big Air or whatever. It's stunning that they're taking this angle while Nintendo puts Mario in everything they can cram him into. Mario: plumber and TENNIS PRO.

I too hope they can figure out something that works and looks OK in first person, as I use it all the time as well. I do find that in Burnout I'm forced to play third person so I can see what is happening to cars next to me that I'm barging so maybe I'll have to play third person anyway in this.
I hope not though, it seems it's more about using the weapons than running into others.
-
I always had faith in the Pure devs. :bow2
2010??? fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
oh well i can keep playing pure :hyper
-
I watched the developers live demo it on G4. Looked really good.
-
I was talking about this game earlier with a friend and he pointed out that the HUD is basically an extension of the car and also helps show the angle when in the air or drifting. That's actually pretty smart. I take back what I said about it being stupid.
-
Any word on if this will support a wheel? Do a lot or arcade racers even support a wheel?
It's crazy hard to tune wheel controllers into racers designed around the controller.
-
Hot new trailer/walkthrough

-
Thanks for the info. :hyper
THis game tickles me funny for some reason. Definitely on my radar
-
PURE was full of awesome which is why I'm keeping my eye on this one.
-
Played this at pax. It was very fun but the frame rate was ropey

Buh. Anything pre-launch is to be forgiven for framerate issues. Showing off a game to the general public is like one of those dreams where you show up for class but forgot to wear pants.

:bow
-
It looks fun, but it still seems missing something that Burnout had. I think it's the car damage it might be the lack of extensive car damage with pieces flying everywhere.
I liked Pure though so will give them the benefit of doubt that it will be a good burnout replacement.
-
I suppose it might not work with the whole roadside hazard thing, but I do wish there were some more airy environments, like mountain or lakeside tracks. That's like the one thing Pure did well.

After trying to play Burnout with a wheel...I have no enthusiasm for even trying this type of game with a wheel. The sensitivity is completely different. You'd have to be wrenching the wheel back and forth like crazy - it'd get destroyed. That sort of thing is fun in an arcade cab though.

Blur just got served.
-
I really hope that's some beginner class and that we'll get much faster classes right away. Looks stupid slow.
-
Looks fun but I hate how brown it looks. Even the sky is brown.
-
Blur just got served.
Riiiiiight....
I'll probably end up getting both, but so far I'm not liking how random the power plays are in Split Second. You have no idea where they're gonna come from and it doesn't look like there's anyway to leave traps for people behind you. It also looks kinda slow...
-
I'm still very much interested to play Split Second but I also like blur now. I think its possible to like both of them. Now that I understand what Blur is I also feel more solid about it. I still need to play Split Second to reach that same comfort level.

Game LOOKS so amazing. I'm still a little wary on how it plays though. I wish they would show footage of other tracks too.
-
Same day as RDR. :(
-
Easy choice for me: I still have half of Burnout Paradise to finish.
RDR! Arr!

Iven in racing games, we can't escape the barrels of doom. :lol
-
It looks like they changed the power play display at the bottom of your car. Unless maybe you can choose how you want it displayed?
-
Wow, far more hyped for this after watching some vids compared to Blur. Looks really fun.

Picked this up for $20 and played through the first season and a bit of the 2nd. At first, like the demo, wasn't really feeling it. Seemed gimmicky, but it's definitely growing on me.
Game is kind of hard and there's no difficulty levels (wtf, you have to have difficulty levels in a racing game). But I realized that is part of the design. The game wants you to keep replaying the tracks until you learn where all the power play triggers are so you can A) activate them at the right time against the opponents and B) know how to dodge them yourself. The more you do a race the more you figure out and the better you do. It can be frustrating because you can go from 1st to 6th 5 mins into a race on the 3rd lap, but it's also kind of exciting because you can go from 6th to 1st 5 mins into the race in the 3rd lap. Definitely giving me a wipeout feel.
The starting cars feel like shit though. A lot of times I start drifting headfirst even when I don't want to drift because the cars are so damn heavy. Does the driving feel get better as you get better cars?
I know demi liked this, but did anyone else play it? What did you guys think?
-
Fun game. I really liked it. It was a really thrilling racer and despite how sort of limited and simple the concept was, I always thought it was very exciting and heart pumping. I hope they sold enough to fund a sequel.
-
There are some cars that feel very "loose" compared to others. Keep playing and unlock some. I think the first one you get thats very loose is the Elite Ryback or something. It's very Knight Rider.
Also there is difficulty, but it is only in Quick Play.
-
I just picked this up and played for an hour. I really like it more than blur. It's very chaotic.
My son was watching me and told my I was the greatest racer in the world. :heart
Tried to connect to a Live match but the community must be dead. :-\
-
It probably is, it was pretty hard to find games when it first came out.
-
I just played it a week or two ago and never had any problems finding games.
Game's still pretty shitty though.
