Looks like they fixed a lot of problems from the first game, also looking a lot better now.

I'm interested. JC had a lot of flaws, but it was some decent fun.
-
How in the hell does he steer with such precision while falling? Flying squirrel sim? :lol
Game looks crazy good, though. Swedes. :rock
-
Very sharp and clear IQ for a sandbox game. I've come to expect a 'fuzzy' look with this genre.
-
Yeah, it looks pretty remarkable. Swedes. :rock
-
Swedes :bow2
-
they said the AI is rewritten from scratch, thank god for that
-
:piss Swedes :piss2
:bow Poles :bow2
Yeah, go Nibris!
Dumbass.
-
Damn, this rips Mercs 2 a new one
-
This game looks so fun. It looks like you never need to touch the ground when playing.
-
i like jumping off of tall things
-
Wow. I assumed that linked video was just the trailer I saw in another thread. Didn't expect a full gameplay walkthrough. The game looks fucking awesome.
-
Holy crap, that was amazing!
I think this will be one of a few games this gen that missed the mark slightly first time around, but nail it on the sequel.

I was recently given an unopened copy of the first game, and am excited to play it. What are these flaws I'm about to trip and fall ass-over-teakettle on?

I wonder if it'll be possible to be shot to death now. The only time I died in the first game was when riding in a vehicle.

I loved the first game but there were nearly no side-missions. Liberating islands and drug territories was repetitive as hell and the story missions lasted only a few hours.
-
Glad to see a more interactive environment this time around. Hopefully it goes even further. The original had a completely static environment, but it was also developed for last generation platforms at the same time.
I would love for them to include CO-OP in this game. I mean, with all of the grappling around it might be difficult, but this type of environment would be best experienced with another player.

The parts where he's using a moving car as active cover are very sexy.
:drool

This game looks fun as hell, I kind of want to try out the first one now. You guys say it wasn't very good though?

It's awesome, there are just a lot of detractors.
2nd favorite sandbox game this gen after Crackdown. Driving cars off cliffs and jumping out and parachuting for miles never gets old. It also has amazing graphics in the jungle.

I only tried the demo for Just Cause 1, and while it seemed to have great ideas I figured I would get bored (as I did with Crackdown).
But seeing this vid it's a no-brainer, I'll be there day one for Just Cause 2. :hyper

holy fuck
"The grapple hook attaches to anything with collision now - buildings, trees and even people," says Johansson. "There are no grapple points whatsoever, so you're really free to work on your own tactical style."
Rico's new favourite toy can also be used to tether things together. To demonstrate this, Johansson uses it to attach an enemy to a telephone pole and hoist him off the ground. Then he starts machinegunning away. The man shrieks as his body jiggles about in the air, like a puppet on a string. An electrically charged string. Made of pain.
Other inventive ways to commit murder with the grapple include tethering a man to an oil barrel, then dragging the two towards each other before blowing up the barrel and by association the man. "My personal favourite use of the grapple? You can lift a jeep under a helicopter and use it as a wrecking ball," says Johansson. We don't get to see this in action, unfortunately.
The next part of the mission we're seeing involves Blaine's car, which he's drunkenly run off into a ditch - so Rico uses the grapple and a handy nearby tractor to pull it back onto the road.
GOTY
-
That's so awesome. :lol
-
You could do that in GTA:VC and GTA:VCS, smh.
-
Yeah but it looked like shit and didn't have achievements.
-
GTA :lol
He mentioned the jeep thing in the video as well. My favourite bit was tethering an enemy to a gas cylinder and then shooting it so it flies off like a rocket.
-
man i want to play just cause now
-
You can do the helicopter-using-a-vehicle-as-a-flail trick in Mercs 1 and Mercs 2, for what that's worth.
Just sayin'.
-
Well that's OK because Mercs was cool.
