Unless you live in a bank, no.

Heh, yeah, nothing like an armed robbery to give us cops the excuse to run around with shotguns, looking menacing and intimidating. ;)

yeah, but bank robberies can happen anywhere.  I wouldn't stress over it much.

Helicopters are done circling the place, I think everything's been resolved peacefully or something.

Nothing good ever happens when helicopters fly together in packs.

Helicopters for a simple bank robbery? That does nothing but waste tax dollars, not to mention the environmental waste. Instead of walking into the bank and demanding the robbers (who honestly are probably trying to feed their families) quit, they have to inconvenience everybody by pretending to be hardcore.   ::)

Yeah I thought the helicopters were a bit overkill, it wasn't even that large of a bank (just a small, Korean bank at the corner). There were like three circling the damn place. Gave the dog a good scare, too!

Hey Boogie, does a bank being robbed hold any higher importance to a store or house being robbed?

I'd imagine that bank robberies are usually more well-planned and professional.

Not per s.  At least, it's not about "importance", but rather, in which instance are the police more likely to catch the robber.

My gut instinct would be that homes tend to be robbed when their owners are not home.  Hence the timeframe isn't as urgent, and unless there's some promising evidence, it will be harder to find the perpetrators.

In contrast with bank robberies, which are usually committed during the hours of operation, where the tellers can trigger the alarm for an immediate police response (as opposed to private home alarm systems, which just signal the private company, who will likely just dispatch a private guard if the owners aren't home, who will take three hours to get there), as well as the bank having security cameras, and other security measures.

I know in one recent bank robbery in Toronto, Toronto Police were on scene within 90 seconds of the robber leaving the bank.  That sort of quick response leads to a good chance of catching the robber.

I'd imagine that bank robberies are usually more well-planned and professional.

Oh, I wouldn't go that far.

Hmmm I never thought about that. Why the fuck do banks get more protection than homes.

Hmmm I never thought about that. Why the fuck do banks get more protection than homes.

Because:

a) banks are filled to the brim with CASH MONEY

b) because of being paragraph a), they are proportionally a bigger target for robbery

c) as I said, banks are robbed while people are there (as opposed to someone breaking into your house when no one is home) there is a greater potential for danger and violence when a bank is being robbed.

d) banks PAY for most of their own protection measures (not as in, pay for a quick police response, but in terms of in-bank security measures)
