I'm highly interested in the Wizardry like gameplay but still undecided (apparently Dark Spire sucks balls)
-
I passed on it for Knights in the Nightmare (one can only stomach one Atlus RPG a month, I guess :'()
-
it's garbage, play EO instead
-
I don't think Demi owns a PSP anymore >:(

Been playing this. Its addictive but man is the UI shitty. I hate how battles have this little cutesy animation when selecting actions. So you end up having to keep your finger pressed on X for a good 5 seconds just to get through battle commands. They should have put in an "All out Attack" option.
-
Class of Heroes
I don't have any experience with the EO games, which is why I'm enjoying this I guess. I definitely want to get the first EO when I'm done with this (if I'm not burned out on the gameplay)

Game looks cool but oldskool in a way that's more annoying than anything else. No automap? Manual item management? Instant-death traps?
Ah well, I'll probably play through this eventually. I need to pick up Black Sigil first.
-
The good thing is that you can save anywhere. So you can save before a trapped chest or taking on a boss mid dungeon.
-
Game has been addictive so far. There are lots of random pieces you find throughout dungeons (via battles and chests).
The progression of upgrades feels real natural in that, you hit newer dungeons and enemies, you're bound to find junk that can be turned into something useful.
The UI is still a huge annoyance. Item management is horrible too (as stated by others). You have to be aware of how much room you have left and offload shit at different schools (lest you'll miss some rare loot just because you didn't manage your inventory).
There's also a wide assortment of enemies but also a lot of pallet swaps.
My character setup is
Front:
Warrior (Tank/Fighter)
Valkyrie (Tank/Fighter/Some Healing)
Ninja (High Evasion/Assassination/Important Non-Battle skills like Lockpick, Disarm Trap)
Back:
Devout (Pure Healer/Has Revive)
Wizard (Pure Spell Damage/Has Teleport)
Alchemist (Sucks in battle but he can appraise items and combine them)
-
i am warming up to this shit game. despite some pretty nonsense design decisions (resting and mp, the crappy crafting/alchemy interface), it is strangely compelling.
my party is:
[front]
neutral drake samurai
evil human warrior
evil halfling thief
[back]
neutral diablos wizard
neutral elf ranger
evil erdgeist cleric
wish i'd known to reroll for more bonus points, though -- apparently you want to get 30-60 bp when creating a character, and not the 5-12 pittance i settled for
-
oh, i woulda said fuck the alchemist, bt; a cleric can appraise as well, but levels up faster AND can learn both black and white magic. alchemist is just expensive and useless
-
Yeah, I'm starting to hate the Alchemist more and more. I tried combining some higher level equipment and he keeps failing. I think I'll bring my Cleric back in (had one before I rolled an Alchemist).
-
just re-major him. i did it from warrior->samurai and it wasn't that painful to relevel him.
-
I just spent the past minute rolling to see if I hit it big and got 50 BP :rofl :hyper :hyper (some people have spent 3 hours try to get 60 BP)
-
Best piece of knowledge EVER. Holding down (as in not Up, Left or Right but Down) on the Nub plus X will signal an all out attack. NO MORE HOLDING FUCKING X, ARGHHHHHHHH YEAHHHHHH.
What's also cool is that the "All out Attack" is based on the sequence of characters. So say you have two Drakes in the front. You select Breath for the two and then "All out Attack". The two Drakes will Breath on who you selected and everyone else will just do a physical attack.
Battles = Much faster now

I'm post game right now and my party is decked the fuck out with some good IC Weapons/Armor and Loot. This game has an assload of stuff to find and I'm wondering if item levels go beyond lv60 (because they seem to be going higher and higher as if there's a point where I'll start finding more exotic gear).
