Watched the last 4 eps tonight.  Was a pretty good ending.

The show seemed kinda iffy after about halfway with good scenes, and cliche scenes and the story didn't really seem to have a focus.  But then they pulled off a good ending and created an interesting setup for the films.  So yeah, in the end I'm happy with how it turned out.  Wasn't the best show ever, but it was good.

Yeah it was good, but I hate that it was so short and now we have to wait months for the movies. :maf

Here are a few that you might want to check out:

-Ergo Proxy [bizarre post-apocalyptic scifi]
-Scrapped Princess [sword-and-sorcery fantasy with a hint of scfi]
-Planetes [garbage collecters in space, one of the best scifi shows I've seen]
-Noein [time-travel/alternate future scifi]
-Kurau: Phantom Memory [very character-driven scifi]
-Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex [cyberpunk to the max, more or less the best scifi anime ever]
-Full Metal Panic [mecha action with some comedy]
-Full Metal Panic: Fumoffu [better than the original, but if you have any plans to watch the original don't watch Fumoffu first because its impossible to go back to the more serious series]
-Ghost Hunt [kind of like an anime X-Files focused on ghosts, has some genuinely creep/disturbing and sad episodes]
-Seirei no Moribito [period drama with a cool, samurai-type heroine, from the director/writer of Stand Alone Complex]

Darker than Black (best Bones animu)
Gurren Lagann (overthetop mecha action, gar)
Gundam 00 (best Gundam show, Bebpo approved)
Code Geass (Season 1 at least)
Baccano!

and Sengoku Basara when episode 11 and 12 get subbed.

Maybe I was still coming off the deep dark depression of Texhnolyze, but I really enjoyed Ergo Proxy, even though there were a number of changed premises after episode 1.

The main dude rounded up a small army in order to force people to evacuate from areas that were about to be attacked by missiles. Then he took all his minions and crammed them into shipping containers and sent them to Abu Dhabi, Nermal-style, to get rid of them for a while. Then apparently after a few months they finally were able to get themselves shipped back and were super pissed at our hero, and so they overran his house/abandoned shopping mall. Naked.

I was the opposite, I liked the show, but I thought the ending was kinda meh. I guess we'll get a more conclusive ending with the movies though, so I'm okay with it.

It was ok, but kind of boring and I dropped it around ep10 or so.  Dunno if it picked up again.

The only anime I've seen that was WORTH WATCHING EVEN FOR ANIMU-HATING NORMALS in the last 3-4 years is:

-Baccano
-Michiko to Hatchin
-Eureka 7
-Sword of the Stranger
-Seirei no Moribito
-Evangelion 1.1 (even if you've seen and dislike the tv show; this is really well done)
-Ghost in the Shell Standalone Complex & 2nd Gig
-Planetes (kinda old by now, but excellent)
-Gurren Lagann (2nd half is weaker than the 1st half, but show is worth watching for sure)
-Fullmetal Alchemist (kinda old by now, has problems but amazing end)
-Detroit Metal City (though it gets less good as it runs out of jokes, with occasional moments of brilliance)
-Paprika (maybe; it's just ok but still probably worth a watch)

Machiko to Hatchin had a cool style, but it got boring in the second half. I had to force myself to finish it.

Real Drive was weird because it seemed like it was going to be this GitS type series, but like half the time it focused on this chubby girl eating ice cream and saving puppies or some crap. It was interesting, but only in bits and pieces.
