Title: Holy crap, why didn't anyone warn me about the X-Files movie?
Post by: The Fake Shemp on June 22, 2009, 12:46:23 AM
It's not just bad - it's boring, a cardinal sin against horror/thriller flicks.  What the fuck did I just watch?

I can't believe that Cheebs or Manabyte or some X-Files nerd didn't go off and tell me how bad this was.  I could've been watching Ghostbusters II instead!

First movie is good fun. The 2nd one is painful.

Didn't the fucking fact that it's an x-files movie warn you enough?

The movie also goes on for like twenty minutes after the "mystery" ends, with lots of inaudible whispering and crying between Mulder and Scully.

Not even Skinner could save this movie.

Yeah, the movie was pretty bad, like most of the later X-Files episodes.

Chris Carter -- yesterday's Joss Whedon. And I think JW has about as much time left on his clock.

I enjoyed the first few seasons of X-Files, and the first season of Millenium was REALLY cool. Then it became apparent that Carter had no idea how to end things.

Whedon's problem is that he can only think of one way to end things: stab someone in the chest.

I like to pretend x-files 2 never happened.

In fact I like to pretend everything past seasons 1-5 + movie 1 never happened. If I remember, white man has the same season 1-5+movie view as well. :bow

Seasons 1-4 are the only great seasons of the show but I throw in season 5 and the film because the film gives SOME closure if you stop there, more than the actual show did in its final season at any rate.

I've been watching it on Sci-Fi lately, I forgot how awesome it was. The last movie wasn't that bad - it was just that it was basically a drawn out old one off episode. The movie could have been condensed into a 40 minute episode back in the day, easily. I don't see why the hell they wanted to try to cater to everyone, as if a movie dealing with the mythology would have turned people away. It's a movie that came out 6 years after the show ended, who the fuck else is going to go see it except old fans of the show?

I've been watching the later seasons of it with Doggett and Reyes. I don't see why some people give those seasons crap, I think Robert Patrick played an awesome character. And there was a lot of good one off episodes during this timeframe. It just misses the old original dark and secret vibe the first few seasons of the X-Files had. I dunno any TV shows that please everyone after the first few seasons.

Luckily they supposedly are working on a new one for December 2012, which would be cool.
