Must be nice, mister fancy pants.
Some of us are involved in a daily struggle for our lives - unable to take vacations so we can just put food on the table.
-
I'm taking a vacation day today because tomorrow is my birthday.
And I have July 3rd off.
And I'm taking July 13th off!

I'm actually not totally done with work, I do summer early childhood education evaluations (extra pay), and I've got five kids, so that will be 5-10 days of work. Other than that, I don't plan on doing much. Hanging out with the wife and friends, working on the basement, reading, putting a dent in my gaming backlog.
My wife is finishing up her MBA on August 10th (my birthday), so we're gonna go to Oahu for a week once she's done and right before I go back to work.
-
You have five kids? Jesus.
THANKS FOR CONSUMING ALL OF EARTH'S RESOURCES, JERK!
Next time wrap that shit up!
-
:lol smh

Yeah, now I know what he means!

Yeah, now I know what he means!
You say that now but I won't fall for your serbian jew double bluff. :-*

No kids yet. Thank God. :lol
I've got five kids to evaluate over the summer.

^Word choice is very important.

Going to Cape Cod this Saturday for a week. Can't wait. :)

Yeah, it is. The way I phrased it would've made sense to my colleagues, but I realized on the way home that it wouldn't make sense to anyone else.

I have finals this week and next week is the start of summer quarter, I have a light schedule though at least.
I can't imagine having a full summer with nothing to do though.

I can't imagine having a full summer with nothing to do though.
That's why I do summer evaluations.
I remember my first summer off was really weird. I putzed around the house and walked around neighborhoods in Seattle. I felt really guilty "not doing anything." Now that I'm a homeowner, there's always something I can do with my time around here.

I've wandered around Seattle neighborhoods before. Where's the Red Hook brewery, and that troll bridge? I wandered all over that area, and would not qualify it as time wasted. It's lovely.
Enjoy your pre-kid days, Distantmantra. There's a gap between childbirth and partial independence of about 3 years where all my games backlogged like crazy.

bah I need a holiday so bad. So I can get drunk and play jrpgs all day

Thats a pretty long vacation for America. I thought you guys didnt get that many holiday days?
I would assume he is a schoolteacher. They get 3 month breaks in the summer.
-
He's a psychologist at a school I think. So he gets the summer months off.
-
As my brilliant calculus teacher used to say "there were three reasons I went in to this profession: June, July, and August".

You'll have to return on the 26th of August.
Remember this, every other holiday ended. So will this one.
You will be working again on the 26th of August.

Nice!
Don't get complacent with you're time off...it's pretty easy to slip into a different (if shittier) routine
Take a week or two of sleeping in 'till 1 though
