Title: Flickchart or How Jerry Maguire Became my Favorite Movie
Post by: Reb on July 01, 2009, 05:16:47 PM
It's a new site that makes a best movies list, by letting the users compare to movies at a time.
In the beginning the random pairing can have some strange effects. For instance, Jerry Maguire kept popping up paired with crappy movies, thus ending up my favorite movie ever. However whatever movie I choose over my number one, instantly takes its place.

Bla bla bla, go here: http://www.flickchart.com

Seems like kind of a dumb way to rate movies, if it's only in relation to other movies.  I feel like this was built by people that get all butthurt by the IMDB rankings and wanted to prevent people from stuffing the ballot box for a particular film.

I signed up for the beta though......awaiting an e-mail.

You can search for you favourite films and add them, that way you can create an accurate list.

That doesn't even make sense.

Even if you do a search for a film and add, it still makes you compare it to three other films in your list. So, no, it's not as easy as just picking which movies you want and then adding them, unless I missed something here.

I finally got the invite to make an account.  It looks alright, but so far apparently my favorite movie ever is Swordfish.  I mean, Halle Berry has some nice tits, but shit.

Yeah, it takes a while to get your top 20 in order.

My top movie is Beauty and the Beast   :-\

The next few after that are pretty accurate though, even if the order's a bit off (Full Metal Jacket, Incredibles, Godfather, Rear Window)

You're right.

Only films you rate better will enter the top 20. So your top 20 can only improve.
