Bethesda has posted Daggerfall for free download:
http://www.elderscrolls.com/downloads/downloads_games.htm
So with Arena already up and Morrowind and Oblivion on Steam; the whole series is available except for the spin offs.
-
That's pretty bodacious. I've still not played my copy of Oblivion yet, but I've got friends who will probably be all stiff over this.
-
That's pretty cool. I've never played Daggerfall before so I'll have to check it out now.
-
I know what I may be doing
for a very small portion of this weekend. :hyper
Hopes are really low, but I never got around to playing this. I jumped on at Morrowind...the game that finally killed the ti4200.
Will download later.

Downloading @ 1.5kb/sec :lol

Downloading @ 1.5kb/sec :lol
Yeah, I gave up on that and looked around for another download.
This is the one that I'm going to try out now:
http://www.oldgames.sk/en/game/elder-scrolls-daggerfall-the/download/1650/ (http://www.oldgames.sk/en/game/elder-scrolls-daggerfall-the/download/1650/)
It comes with DOSBox already integrated, apparently.

Sheeeeiiiitt. Should have downloaded that one (the Bethesda download is standalone I believe).
-
Nevermind. That version I linked to is kind of messed up. The game boots up okay, but for some reason the cursor doesn't work, making the game essentially unplayable. Guess I'll have try Bethesda's 1.5kb/sec download after all. :'(

16 hours 47 minutes to go. :american

It's like 1999 all over again!!
-
I killed the DL. It wasn't going to be finished by time I got out of work so.....
-
My finished took like an hour last night. Guess lots of people must be hammering it.
-
That reminds me of trying to download The Phantom Menace teaser when it first came out on my dial-up modem. :lol
-
Takes a half an hour to get the 8MB Arena exe also.
-
last time I played this was about 7 or 8 years ago when Morrowind was came out and I wanted to play something like Morrowind until my new computer arrived. I remember thinking it was a bit dated even then, but I still liked it a lot.

There's so many levels of disappointment in that sentence.

At least it wasn't the fake Attack of the Clones / Braveheart trailer.
-
Wow, and as soon as I got a new laptop. YES.
Been waiting for this one to be released for free for a while. Can't wait to play it.

The Phantom Menace trailer was so awesome though.

Wooooo! Up to 26.7 kb/s! I might be finished some time today!
-
I've got it downloaded, but I'm having trouble installing it. Can I do that through DOSBox somehow or do I need to burn the files to a CD?
-
You should be able to do it through DOSBox. What I did with Ultima via Dosbox is put the Ultima files in the root of C: (so their easier to get to). Then navigate to that directory and run whatever installer exe that needs to be run.
-
That's what I did, but in the installer is it can't find my C: and E: drives, both of which have more enough space. And when I try to install to one of those drives anyway, it says there isn't enough space.
-
That's weird, I'm redownloading it right. Guess I'll try it out and see if I get the same result.
-
Yeah, I just found that PDF, I thought it would be as simple as Ultima but I guess not. One area you need to get right is to change the install size to "Huge".
-
I think there is a way to do it but all I know about is auto mounting. The config file must have a section for it.
-
I've got the controls set up as a FPS. Mouse controls where I actually look (with actual movement) and WASD control forward, back and side movement. Feels much better this way... now to get Fullscreen working.
-
My \ key doesn't work in DOSbox...FAIL. Can't even type a path :(
-
Borys PC Emperor, indeed.
This game is fucking brutal. I took up a quest which took me to a tower with tigers, bears and giant spiders (I guess I'm underleveled). I'm thinking of restarting since Burglars skills aren't that important (pickpocketing and lockpicking).
Its actually cool, experiencing this game and seeing where the Elder Scroll series came from.
-
Using Borys's code as a template, here's the string of codes I have that correctly opens up Daggerfall right from the icon
"G:\Program Files\DOSBox-0.73\dosbox.exe" C:\DOSBox\dosbox.exe -c "mount c c:\daggerfall -freesize 1000" -c "mount d c:\daggerfall\dfcd -t cdrom -label Daggerfall" -c "c:" -c "cd dagger" -c "dagger"
I have Daggerfall saved in the root of C: under the folder "Daggerfall" so that should be the only thing thats a variable

That's like Left Mouse Button not working under Windows :lol
Maybe change your keyboard setting or something, Mana.
Tried to actually map the \ key, but when I do it types ]\. LOL.
-
I set my newly created character with a "Short Swords" Disadvantage and then the game sets me up with a character who started out with an Ebony Dagger :lol
And yeah, I ran into that same Imp whose impervious to "Iron", I think? I just ran past him. Fortunately my new character's Primary Long blade skill helped me out with some of the more annoying inhabitants of that dungeon.
I've already looted a Daggerfall store and got some better Armor and Weapons.
