Take Two has confirmed that BioShock 2 has been delayed to 2010, reports Shacknews. Take Two chairman Strauss Zelnick said the company "concluded that moving the release of BioShock 2 into fiscal year 2010 was the right decision for the product. We believe the result will be a more compelling consumer experience and a better performing product in the marketplace." CEO Ben Feder added that the decision wasn't easy, but they "felt that it was essential to invest the additional time to ensure that this title will deliver what its fans expect and deserve."
Technically speaking, the game's November 2009 release date was part of fiscal 2010 already. But given the language about shifting release dates and performing better in the marketplace, it seems likely that Take Two is avoiding the saturated holiday season and giving the development team a bit more time to polish the game. The new release window sits at the first half of 2010, which is still pretty wide open. We'll let you know when we hear something more specific.
... Makes sense. I wasn't impressed with the E3 footage and the game sounded like a mess - I don't think they have any clue what they want to do.
-
Probably just biding time for the 360 version to catch up.
-
yeah, they were talking up all the alleged differences, but every video i saw looked exactly like the later levels of the first bioshock
-
The concept of having to protect a Little Sister every time you harvest Adam sounded like it'd get old real quick.
-
Also multiplayer lol
-
I was just kidding btw.
-
the multiplayer shown at E3 allegedly sucked
I also heard Splinter Cell was moved to 2010
-
Of course the multiplayer sucked - its BioShock! Who the fuck thought it was a good idea to put in multiplayer?
Story focused games should only offer co-op at the most.
The single player didn't look too hot. They've got like three different teams working on this. I like how they promoted the guy that made the best level in the original, as if fans still wouldn't be skeptical.
I think this game might be a trainwreck. At best, it'll be mediocre. Wake me when Levine announces his project.
-
Splinter Cell is never coming out. That franchise is dead - box that shit up, Ubi.
-
and word is starcraft 2 ain't gonna make it in 09, either
so it went from crazy overkill holiday releases to a fairly light (for video games) year-end schedule
suits me just fine - release a couple BF 1943 maps per month through the year's end (and fix all the jank), wolfenstein (which hopefully won't suck, but it releases in a month and they still aren't talking about the multiplayer, so...), maybe that batman game, and i'm all set
-
Uh, Halo 3 ODST? Left 4 Dead 2?
MODERN FRIGGIN' WARFARE 2?
Wolfenstein is going to be garbage. Batman looks awesome, but an awesome rental.
-
oh yeah, L4D2, forgot about that
No interest in MW2 or Halo
Wolfenstein SP looks pretty cool (i am a fan of the franchise, and embrace the cheesiness), multi will surely be a letdown if they're keeping quiet about it
-
* Raiden IV
* Marvel Alliance 2
* Alpha Protocol
* Dragon Age
* Ass Creed 2
-
All of that is garbage, demi.
How can you NOT be interested in Modern Warfare 2, Eel? Infinity Ward is awesome, awesome is Infinity Ward! And who doesn't enjoy more Halo multiplayer goodness?
I like Wolfenstein, but the game is being so quietly release that it sounds like garbage.
-
Awesome until proven garbage
btw Halo 3 was trash so you are gay
-
Considering the pedigree of the developers involved, more like garbage until proven awesome.
Halo 3 is the third best multiplayer console game around, jerk!
-
i enjoyed the halo games for what they were, but i sort of lost interest in the chaotic multi a while back, and my twitch-shooter reflexes aren't what they were even a couple of years ago
as for MW2, i am just not a fan of the modern warfare settings, is all - i'm sure it will be an awesome game for fans
-
Do you play World at War?
-
and since anybody who's somebody (hint: not you) played dark sector, they know better after the atrocious multiplayer and netcode involved
-
Yeah, I never got that. They farmed out the multiplayer to Digital Extremes because of their resume? That'd be like Konami farming out Metal Gear Solid to Silicon Knigh- oh wait.
-
Do you play World at War?
very little on pc (some of the custom maps and modes are cool, like a zombies vs. mode), although i do play nazi zombies with a friend on PS3 occasionally
-
Dark Sector was a good couple of hours of enjoyment just from throwing a blade at people. It never got old for me.
Dark Void seems like it will be another so-so that's enjoyable because you have jetpack.
-
Dark Sector was a decent rental for single player, but nothing about that production makes me agree with 2K's decision to have them develop the multiplayer!
-
i am one of the most open minded and unbiased on this board.
i think oblivion is the worst game i've ever played, but fallout 3 is one of the best.
-
I actually side with demi on this one. I desperately tried to get Oblivion - especially since Disposable White Guy has such an affinity for it and I refused to believe that my friends were spending hundreds of hours playing this dull game.
But it's really not that good of a game. The world design is pretty awful too.
That said, Fallout 3 is fucking awesome.
-
And unlike Dragon Age, Fallout isnt THE NEW SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT
-
* Raiden IV
* Marvel Alliance 2
* Alpha Protocol
* Dragon Age
* Ass Creed 2
Isn't Bayonetta coming this year too?
-
BAD COMPANY 2
-
mafia delayed too :'(
-
The old BC characters kind of got annoying. I really hope they have a more original story and cast this time even though the multiplayer is the main appeal obviously. Or at least it will be a month after release when all the newbs who don't know how to work as a team stop playing.
-
Three Kings was awesome because it wasn't predictable and didn't have random sound bites from the stereotypical black, geek, and hick characters.
Bad Company had a better story than most games but I think they tried too hard to pay homage/ripoff Three Kings so it'll be more interesting/wittier if they go in a new direction. The way the last game ended means that you still have to fight the French mercenaries so who knows what they'll do?
-
Oblivion is no Morrowind that's for sure.
I liked both games, but all the fog and the cliffracers pushed it down below Oblivion for me in terms of enjoyment.
On the other hand, Morrowind had a lot more variety of locations than just plain Oblivion. Some of this has been fixed with Shivering Isles and mods, though.
-
ii think oblivion is the worst game i've ever played, but fallout 3 is one of the best.
Wow, after all these years you finally say something I agree with.. Im not sure how that makes me feel.
-
This makes me sad that I won't be playing it this year, but on the other hand hopefully they are improving the SP and working on the story. Hopefully being the operative word.
-
* Raiden IV
* Marvel Alliance 2
* Alpha Protocol
* Dragon Age
* Ass Creed 2
Isn't Bayonetta coming this year too?
Surprise! Guess what got delayed.
