What model?
Good timing. Now you can get that PS3 slim that isn't real.
Ouch. Hopefully, you'll get the same one back. What model?
60 GB launch
I've heard that Sony will give another BC PS3 if yours dies.
I still have never had any console (Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo) die on me.

Out of those three, Microsoft's been the worst by far for me. Went through two OG Xbox systems (although they were both modded) and am on XBox 360 #4, but to be fair #2 was returned immediately and #3 was replaced for the hell of it right before I moved.
I've owned launch model Nintendo and Sony systems and never had any issues. Even had a launch model Japanese Playstation from '94 that I got from a friend-- it always worked perfectly.
Is there any particular reason for the YLOD? Like is it an overheating issue or something? I keep wondering if the people that get them leave their PS3s on for long periods of time, like downloading overnight or doing the folding at home stuff.

I dunno what I'd do if my PS3 ever breaks down; I don't want a newer unit that doesn't have support for PS2 games. Does Sony USA repair Japanese consoles? Microsoft does...Good timing. Now you can get that PS3 slim that isn't real.
:lol
Basically from what I looked up, the YLOD is not the RROD. People have opened them up trying to find out exactly what's wrong with the system and have failed to do so. It could be anything from a hard drive or Blu-Ray drive failure to the exact problem that the 360 has. The official Sony explanation is an "overheating issue" but I've never had any issues with my PS3 or left it on for long periods of time ever. Basically Sony only has one error code whereas Microsoft has several error codes.
Meaning I won't be able to fix this system like me and tehjaybo fixed my 360. $150 gone. And they better give me a BC enabled 360 because I really don't want to purchase another PS2. And all of my game saves are gone as well as my trophies. Wonderful.
i dunno, if they sell you a BC PS3 and can't make good on repairing or replacing it with an equally BC system, i don't think asking for a PS2 to replace the feature is too much to ask. they're only $99 now, so you gotta figure it probably runs Sony about $35 to manufacture at this point.
I'm massively pissed. If I don't get a 60 GB BC back, I'm definitely going to bitch. A lot.
Good thing that usually works with video game companies.
Did you call them and ask?
You can bitch all you want, but they dont make BC PS3 anymore :lol
