I always imagine Poland being permanently covered in thick grey fog.

Me too, my mental image of Poland is that of grey and drab colors and old females with a head scarf.

I imagine the country to be filled with lots of big-breasted, hot women... PLEASE tell me this is true. And I also imagine a lot of forests for some reason.

Borys, how easy is it for an average-looking 'murkan to get laid in Poland?

This is how you imagine Poland, Tieno?

smh
Yep, I do realize my mental image is wrong and would change completely if I'd visit Poland. It's a rudimentary association I make because I hardly know anything about Poland as it is today, but the things of the past like the stuff with WWII and that it was screwed by communism hence the grey and such.

Only been to Poland once (and that was a good 15 years ago) but I thought It was great, sure some parts of krakow looked kinda f'd up (not thats a bad thing, to me it just adds to the charm) but overall I loved it. The people I met were very nice and I was never under the impression that "...the people are unhappy, never smile, never speak to you or want to help if you're lost.." it was rather the opposite.

But I was just a kid back then, maybe they treat adults differently.

I hear they have a lot of hot chicks there.

I dunno about Poland.  I can give them some leeway for essentially being driven into the ground by communist rule but I have no real ethnic roots there so I doubt I'll ever visit.

Thats good to hear! Though as I said before I had nothing to complain about the country back then.

@T EXP: You don't have to have ethnic routes to visit a country do you? As I remember there were a lot of interesting sights there like in nearly every big european city.

Is the city still "cheap" (regarding hotels and food) compared to say Vienna?

You can only understand this if you're polish. I mean a negative article/news item abroad about poland can be top news on news websites in poland resulting in 100s of people emailing the source in protest.

 :lol :lol It's so true.

I last visited Poland 14 years ago. I thought Gdansk was pretty nice.

And, yes, the women were attractive. Not a lot of fatties. That may have changed as Poland has embraced capitalism.

I haven't been to Poland. I only go to countries that speak English. Like Mexico.

BUT some of my cousins from there have come here. Straight hustlahs. :bow2

edit: I remember I ate fried chicken on the beach with them when I was like 6 or 7. Shit that rocked.

I think it's more nation-ist.  Russians are OK by me though.  Unless they invade Australia.

Hot and sexy Russian invaders are OK too.

poland seems pretty badass, i'd definitely rather go there over czech republic or slovakia or most of its other neighbours. a lot of important history went down in poland. i've also heard that polish people are really cool, unlike what i've heard about the natives in czech republic, for instance.

i'd actually like to do a tour of western europe someday... it seems like choosing places to go would be tough, but a couple of polish cities would definitely be on the list.

My dad's wife and step-sister are Polish.  Whether they are representative of all Poles I don't know, but they're cool and easy-going.

I don't know, I love the music.. Chopin, Paderewski, Szymanowski, Lutoslawski. I always have room on my shelf for them.

You know every saturday they play Chopin in the Royal Gardens in Warsaw near the Chopin statue? Pretty awesome to see it.

Piped over a system, or do they wheel a piano out? I know almost all of Chopin's major piano works by heart.. if I wanted I could sit down and play nothing but Chopin all night long, and never repeat myself. Not bragging, I just love Chopin that much, and I've been playing his works for 20 years..

all the polish women I've dealt with have been bat shit insane.  Well, a mix of intellectual and kinda angry (in a good way), but with serious impulsive craziness when they get pissed :lol

Piano, even when it's raining they put up a cover :)

That has gone to the top of my list of "things to see someday." Thanks!
