Title: Does Steam work outside the USA? In Korea?
Post by: GilloD on August 10, 2009, 11:19:58 PM
I am JUST ABOUT to click "Buy" on that sweet Asus laptop, when I realized: Does Steam work outside the USA? In Korea? If I buy a a game in the USA, can I play it in Korea? Vice-versa?

I use it here in Japan. I have no idea about buying something in one region but moving to another, but i've never heard of any problems of that sort. If the cc you use to pay the bill doesn't change, i'm pretty sure you'll be golden.

Valve allows regional lock-out on games, but I don't think it's there for every game [Valve doesn't use it for their games]. Also, it works in a variety of countries, including Korea.

As long as you have a home billing address and American credit card that you can use while in Korea, you're good to go.
