Dumb things I did:
-Wore my server apron while walking home at 11pm.
-Told guy I didn't have change for a ten. I heard someone got robbed in the area a few months before. I then try walking away and say something like " I only have 20s". GAWD HURR DURRR.
-Hesitated like I could possibly figure some way out of being held gunpoint at point blank range.
-Tried LIEING to a mugger that I didn't have anything as if he wouldn't check my pockets All though my clamming up for the most part may have kept him from finding my wallet with $40.
-Try to bargain for my new box of Newports and asked if I could at least keep my cards. (he didn't find them)
All in all I lost $38 in tips and my pocket change plus the cigarettes. Considering how fucking haphazard I handled the situation it wasn't a terrible loss.
The guys at the gas station had him on survelliance from earlier in the store. The officer they sent out is pretty positive he matches other descriptions in the said previous robbery and domestic disputes at my apartment complex. The gas station attendant claims to know what building he stays in. I still doubt it will get resolved quickly.
I don't think I'm traumatised yet. One thing I realise now is that if I had a weapon I wouldn't have had any time to pull it out. His demeanor changed so abruptly.
you should have told him that you're an internet celebutante. :smug
if only that mugger owned a pc and could see your .gifs this whole crisis could have been avoided.
Man that sucks, but your life >> money.
Did he really pull gun?
That's one of the things that makes me weary of traveling the US alone.
These situations are interesting because we all feel really clever, and then when the shit actually hits the fan we get to find a whole other side to ourselves. Especially when it turns around quickly and unexpectedly; muggers are the forgotten arm, likelier to knock you out than a punch you can see coming.
Glad you're physically unhurt. Just remember you can choose your own psychological reaction to this whole incident.
Some kids tried to mug me in Harlem back in the day. I threw a pencil at their face and ran. Too bad you didn't have a pencil I guess.

Did they have a gun? I would've bolted otherwise.
I was gonna shoot his ass but I thought he was distinguished mentally-challenged so I decided to let him suffer through life. Thanks for the $38, though, you cheap dumb bastard. oh and the smokes. :pimp

dude, you should feel lucky you don't have four pen wounds all up in your face
Aaaaand the apartment managers found out I had cats today. Two $200 pet deposits. Yay what a wonderful 48 hours. I mentioned the incident to them and they seem dead sure who it is like the cops did. Why has this guy been running around so long?

don't squander your pity by bringing up dumb shit you should've taken care of.

I don't care about pity. I'm just out of some money now.
"Oh God yes, detective. Once I realized I had stolen from a distinguished mentally-challenged man, I couldn't live with myself. Take the money. It is covered with shame."
So you only make $38 a night? You don't have any mode of transportation other than your legs? You have cats?
smh
So he voluntarily took an extra mugging charge just for the hell of it? wat
Sounds like a scam to me!
Accepting the mugging charge when he was arrested for something else confused me as well. Truth be told my memory is shit and I wouldn't be a good witness. I admitted as much when they were asking me for a description of the guy. I'm guessing there was some convoluted plea bargain involved if Law and Order is to be believed.

And, of course, you should *always* believe what you learn from network primetime dramas...
