all tracks are 20 minutes long and feature an intro of light cymbal taps with some gently trickling guitar notes and melodies that slowly but surely build up into an epic crescendo that goes on much longer than needs to before leveling off into some more lighter melodies. Some strings may or may not be involved.

build up into an epic crescendo
:drudge :drudge :drudge
It is not possible to "build to a crescendo" as the crescendo is the process of building
:drudge :drudge :drudge

Yeah I know, you said "build up into".  Still too close for comfort!

You, You're a History of Awesome would have been better!  But it also sounds like you're complimenting him for deconstructing DMST, so no, it's not a good comeback  >:(

you're in for a treat, especially if you haven't heard GYBE.  easily my favorite post-rock band.

Earth is kinda post-rock-ish too, but without the epic crescendos (and they came before anyone came up with that genre)

oh I've heard all the Constellation stuff.  Mono and Del Mar are new to me though.  Any specific album recommendations?

Del Mar I've only seen live.  For Mono, get One More Step And You Die.
