Title: My grandparents are in gangs
Post by: The Fake Shemp on August 20, 2009, 04:33:04 PM
My grandma is in some group called the "Redhats" and my gradfather hangs out with the "Romeos".

... They sound like some kind of '50s street gang :lol

Redhats are old ladies that wear redhats everywhere they go.  The frequent only the finest Floridian dinner theatres.

Redhats are everywhere. IIRC it's based on the notion of individuality...some story about how someone wore a red hat and a purple dress because she felt like it.

In typical fashion, gaggles of middle aged/old women took to wearing them. I thought the fad had died out though.

So what are the "Romeos"?

That probably sounds more likely.

My sister coughed up this information from a recent visit. She said that grandma hangs out with these "Redhats" and they attend social functions. And that the "Romeos" pick up grandpa in some kind of retro car, and go downtown.

I was imagining some kind of underground world where the elderly street dance battle and stuff.

I thought the Red Hats were just Linux distro viral marketers. Oh wait Linux makes no money man I'm so dumb.

Essentially old lonely people socialise by having lunch together.

That is correct. My boss has told me that before, hoping he becomes a Romeo himself soon.

Retired old men eating out... redhats. :teehee

When in a lemon party MAKE LEMONADE.

Hey, when the red hats happen upon a lone, blue hat wearing geriatric, do they throw down on him?

Redhats, in the faerie realm: bad news.

I believe the Romeos are a roving band of retired rapists, Ice-T was talking about it on ganlgand once. I guess the name is ironic.

My grandpa's an anti-Semite.  I'm not sure if that counts as a gang.
