Title: I ate McDonalds and didn't immediately regret it.
Post by: ToxicAdam on August 26, 2009, 10:34:46 PM

I don't usually willfully eat McDonalds. It usually a matter of circumstance. Either I am stuck in a car with someone that wants it or it's the only fast food place at a given exit (a rarity lately).

I had a coupon for a free Angus burger the other day and decided to use it. I purchased the bacon and cheese variety and dug right in. The burger was actually juicy (not greasy) and tasted like meat! It was pretty good size too .. I only ate abour 3/4 of it before I was feeling full. I can't imagine buying the "value meal" for it. I would probably explode. Not a big fan of McDonalds fries anyways. The bacon was totally crap though. That flat, chewy, dull red bacon that could have been pressed out of a machine for all I know. The bun was a better quality than what they have on their regular burgers.

So, thumbs up to the Angus burger. A bit expensive (3.99), but when you consider the other drek on the McDonald's menu .. it's worth the extra few bucks. Hopefully, this burger is a huge success and pushes McDonalds into making a better quality of food.

I never eat McDonalds, but I actually like a Big Mac & fries and would probably eat most of their burgers.

However, anything they do with muffins, eggs, bacon etc... basically breakfast stuff...  :-X

I eat it a couple times a month.  its bad, but so damn ingrained in my head that I like it.  I don't think I'll ever get sick of dipping the fries in BBQ sauce.

The angus is definitely a step up, since it has substantial toppings, but the meat is still like a larger, saltier McDonald's patty.

I eat McD a few times a month out of being in a hurry and hungry somewhere.  Then I eat it and always regret it as it tastes blahhhh and I know I'll feel sick later.

At least with places like Carl's Jr. or Taco Bell or Del Taco it tastes yum before it makes you sick all day.

I never eat McDonalds, but I actually like a Big Mac & fries and would probably eat most of their burgers.

Their fries are really good if you get them fresh and cooked properly.  This happens like once a year at the McDs by me.  90% of the time you get old cold and discolored fries which are gross and you throw out.

Agreed. Pro Tip: Ask for fries without salt "for medical reasons," because they'll have to make a whole new batch, then add salt afterward.

I personally don't do this, because I really don't care that much, but I know that you do not fuck with some people and their fries.

I do this at Wendy's with chocolate Frosty's. Actually, I get a plain burger and dip that in my Frosty as well. So sweet yet salty yet soooo fucking good.

At McDonald's, I'll pile a bunch of fries on my burger itself.

Years ago after a night of drinking, friends and I drove through McDonalds and ordered lunch.  Driving away I opened the bag and nearly vomited at the overpowering smell of a ton of apple pies which we didn't order.  We went back to the drive through and said:

"We ordered a Big Mac & fries,
and you gave us six apple pies."

Only after we said it did we realise the poetic comedy of the situation.

Of course they're both busy. But they only have two cashiers at each location. Why not open one with four! OR, if they're going to open a second location, why not at least move it to the law building.  :)

I'm what my mother calls a purist.  I hate my foods to touch.  I like my burgers plain.  I don't put mustard or ketchup on a hot dog.   I just never have.  I prefer it.

I eat a hamburger every other day (sometimes everyday).  But I don't eat the fast food types, but the well cooked hq 1/3rd pound meat ones at better local places (or in-n-out).  I don't eat much red meat besides hamburgers, so they're pretty much the only way I get my cow meat to add variety between fish/shrimp & chicken.  It's probably not good for my heart to eat so much red meat but I love hamburgers :|

There are some decent local places for burgers, but I usually end up making my own - take about 1/2 pound of ground sirloin, dice up some onions, and marinate the meat with soy sauce, teriyaki, a dash of worcestershire, cayenne pepper, parsley flakes, and black pepper. Serve on a toasted bun with diced tomatoes and onions, and a piece of lettuce.

No, I wasn't allowed to get up from the table until my plate was clear.  But when I was old enough to start making my own choices, if I knew I didn't like it, I didn't eat it.  That always sounded fair to me.
