Re: the cars, they're awesome. They're very similar to the handling in the old Racer Driver games on Xbox/PS2. The V8's have this weight to them that makes them difficult to really throw through corners, but also a lot of power.
The Falcon was R3 720 and the Commodore was R3 717

This generation? I once read an article on GT4 and it looked like they just used tape measure and none of this grid stuff.

I've long wanted the Veyron in a game, just to find out if Top Gear was right, but isn't it potentially game-breaking? Will we see race after race of nothing but Veyrons now?

I doubt it will be unbalanced. The car will probably have the highest top speed in it's class but it wasn't the fastest on Top Gear's power lap board so it'll probably be relatively slow on turns.
All the noobs online will still use it just for the novelty.

Nurburgring with Veyrons will be a comedy of epic proportions.
BTW I think the Veyron was in one of the more recent horrible Need For Speed games.

The Veyron is a neat car, but I'm more excited about the V8s.
Having the Veyron in will make a few people shut up about its exclusion at least.

I keep going back and forth with this game. Right now I'm keen on buying it, but I keep changing my mind because of how I play racing games in general (little by little over long periods of time). I'll still buy it over GT5, Shift, and Turd...Blur. Split Second still interests me, and Gran Turismo PSP, for some reason. GT PSP videos make it seem more like GT2 where it was more arcade-y and less the Gran Turismo 4 fake-realism handling.

Top Gear tried it on their track and it wasn't the fastest car; maybe in a drag race. Besides, Top Gear only counts road-legal cars while Forza usually includes more.
And NFS Pro Street had the Veyron, so will Gran Turismo PSP. It would be funny if GT5 doesn't, but I wouldn't be surprised if it had it too.

haha, yeah. It's kinda like with PGR1 (or 2...?) where they had Ferrari's and made a big deal about it, and now every racing game is packed with Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, etc. Well, except later PGR games that lost Porsche and got RUF, and PGR4, which lost Nissan lol.

One, the past two Need for Speed games, along with NFS Shift, will have the Veyron.
Two, judging from the GAF comments, I don't think there's going to be a straightaway big enough for the Veyron to hit top speed.
And finally, I'm certain that there will be a guy in a Ford GT taking down Veyrons because of the morans who can't drive properly. ;)

Name one reason to buy GT5 over this if you like racing games.
GT5 is the official racing game of NASCAR, which is a sport or something. People drive around in a circle for like 10 hours, I think it's an endurance test of how long you can go without participating in a real race.
Oval racing can be fun to do but I don't get how people can watch it.

What you're probably forgetting, chaps, is that Forza 3 will probably allow you do to things like reduce the weight with a button click, turning it into a cornering beast as well. There are always cars that break their classes due to unforeseen combinations of real-life properties and in-game upgrades. The Veyron strikes me as one that is going to need very careful attention. (still keen to mess about with it, don't get me wrong! I just have bad memories of PGR3 races with nothing but red Enzos and so on).
When I said i wanted the Veyron in a game, I suppose I should have qualified that by saying 'in a simmy game'. Obviously arcade racers can have all kinds of crazy cars, but it doesn't mean a whole lot. I want to drive it in something that will let me get a decent feel for what it's really like, since I'll likely never get near one in real life.

Saw Forza 3 at PAX and it was freaking amazing looking, however the version I saw was only running at 30fps... Ermm...
Played GT Mobile on PSP. V. smooth and it looks like it has every car ever made in it to the point where I couldn't find my car in the endless Honda list.

I certainly didn't notice the 30fps when I played in cockpit mode. Seemed 60fps to me but I wasn't paying much attention.
