LeGarrette Montez Blount (born December 5, 1986 in Madison, Florida) is an American football running back. He currently attends the University of Oregon in his senior year. Blount is regarded as one of the best running back prospects of his class, and draws comparisons to Michael Bush.
Blount attended Taylor County High School in Perry, Florida, where he was a four-year starter and three-time 1,000-yard rusher. He accorded second-team all-state player honors as a prep senior.
Considered only a two-star recruit by both Rivals.com and Scout.com,[4][5] Blount was not ranked among the best running back prospects in the nation in 2005. Barely recruited out of high school, he attended camp at Auburn University but was not offered an athletic scholarship. He nonetheless intended to go to Auburn but did not qualify academically, so he headed for junior college.
On September 3, 2009, after Oregon lost its season opening game against Boise State, Blount punched Boise State defensive end Byron Hout in the face after being taunted. He then engaged in a pushing match with teammates trying to restrain him. Later, as he was leaving the field, he attempted to go after Boise State fans who were jeering him in the stands. He would have to be physically restrained by team personnel and police and escorted to the locker room.
