Janet returns as our guest this week for a discussion of the film Let The Right One In, the HBO Series True Blood, and other genre media.  Then we read some of your mail, including an eloquent defense of the abhorrent anime comedy He Is My Master.  Finally, we wrap it up with a "twofer" Indefensible segment where both Doug and Kevin stutter and stumble to Janet's amusement.

SEGMENT ONE:  Let The Right One In, True Blood, Meme vs. Meme

SPOILER ALERT:  We discuss the plot of Let The Right One In in great detail.  We also talk about True Blood, Zombies vs Vampires (which one is more played out?), and a few other sidetracks.

SEGMENT TWO:  Listener Mail

I will say that the group theory that Hakan is like Oscar is incorrect.

The book pretty much makes Hakan out to be a pedophile that Eli uses for her own needs. The film tries to imply that Hakan has not been around Eli for awhile on account of his murdering skills (or total lack thereof). Hakan is not supposed to be long-time acquaintance.

The director has gone on record as saying he felt that Oscar and Eli have a happy ending, and if he had to guess, that Eli would make him a vampire.

Let the right one in had a good script and strong characters, but the acting, specifically then the child actors, was your typical overstated, insufferably slow Swedish drama stuff. It was damned near Bullen quality. Knowing the language isn't always a great thing.
