Al Green >>> Marvin Gaye and it's not even close.

McCartney and Dylan overrated as usual and Stevie Wonder should always be in the top 5. Forever.

Also, Xtina higher than Mariah Carey? Hahahahah

My grandma thinks Frankie Valli should be ranked higher!

I have a hard time believing that there were 17 better singers than Freddie Mercury in the 20th century, in any genre.  He's top 5.

Personally for me, Marvin Gaye is #1.  And the absence of Nick Drake from the list at all is criminal.

Gaye was a better pure singer. Green is a crooner

Anyway, Cooke should be #1, or at least the top male singer

:lol :lol :lol @ Lennon in top 10
Dylan  :lol

Just noticed Rod Stewart is part of the list.  WTF indeed.

Rod Stewart is, or was, an excellent singer, he just happens to also be a jackass and has chosen to have a seriously terrible career for whatever reason (http://www.evilbore.com/forum/index.php?topic=29201.msg808722#msg808722).  As I've pointed out several times (http://www.evilbore.com/forum/index.php?topic=16583.msg397359#msg397359), his early stuff is pretty damn good (http://www.evilbore.com/forum/index.php?topic=23870.msg616473#msg616473).

Freddy Mercury and Roy Orbison are both way too low.

I love Nirvana but I have to  :lol @ Cobain being one of the 50 best singers of all time.  I wonder how someone can even defend that decision.  They must have a different definition of singing than I do.

Post by: Robo on September 11, 2009, 11:07:55 PM
This seems to be more of a celebration of excellent front-men/women than singing ability.

Then Freddie Mercury should still be higher.

Post by: Human Snorenado on September 11, 2009, 11:16:54 PM
Yeah, if you're talking best front man of all time, Freddie Mercury would be number one and David Lee Roth would be number two.  Eat a dick if you disagree.

Axl Rose, but not Chris Cornell.

WTF

I love GNR and am not a huge fan of Soundgarden but that fact alone renders this list moot and fucking stupid.

Anyone with an ear that works knows that Cornell can sing his fucking ass off.  I like Axl's 'singing' too but damn, how can they leave Cornell off this list?
