Title: How pathetic am I?
Post by: rodi on September 12, 2009, 04:46:21 PM: I'm helping someone I like very much get back together with her useless cheater of a boyfriend just because I have low self-esteem and am in denial that I might - just might - like this person more than a friend. Pretty pathetic, and doing nothing for my submarine drawings I keep hidden in my desk at work...

I'm doomed to the friend zone. :(

No, they're real drawings of submarines I doodle for fun. But seeing as how I'm prone to denial, I just might have unconscious reasons for drawing submarines, of all things.

Well, you'll have your fair share of shooting, blowing things up (my company got to do claymores), driving around recklessly in all terrain, and there's always the more dreadful aspects like: inspections, waking up at four in the morning, guard duty, drill sergeants. Not as hardcore as the marines, but definitely more straining than the AF or the Navy.

Apparently in the Navy you have gun training but you pick it up like...once in your entire time at camp.

I don't know why I posted my teenage problems here. lol, I need to go home for R&R and it can't come fast enough - this place is depressing.

It must be tough to really be gay but also in the military due to their "don't ask, don't tell" rule; it's like one big way to say,"Don't be yourself." Have you experienced much sexism while in the army? Do you have to use a front? Like,"Yeah, I have a boyfriend back home." and stuff?

And yeah, the Navy and AF training seems to be peanuts compared to Marines and Army. I hope by the time I join it's more tough, but that'd probably scare away prospects interested due to the educational services.

No one seems bothered by it, because I don't act it, nor do I bring it up constantly. I keep that info private and people seem to appreciate that, besides I'm not the type to advocate for gay rights right now. I don't experience much sexism, because I've made an effort to "tough it out" with everyone else in my platoon. Helps to have an inappropriate sense of humor too, so much so that I've become "one of the guys".

There's a lot of girls that pass themselves around in the military, and they are normally the ones that cry wolf for whatever reason. Not always the case, but most often than not.

There's also the apparent problem that because there's so few women, every one is considered a sex symbol by the males. :lol

I'm in Iraq right now. lol, not the best travel destination - no matter how you try to put it! If travel is a big thing for you, I would suggest the Navy or the AF. They have bases everywhere, and are normally lax enough to give you time to enjoy them. Believe me, I like where I am no with little to regret, but if there is one thing I could change - I would have joined the Navy or the AF.

I know. She made the decision to dump him in the end after about three people (myself included) told her he was probably "playing his game" with her.
