I'm looking to pick up a netbook, mostly for mobile computing. Is Asus still best in terms of specs versus prices? I also heard Sony is moving into the ''netbook'' market, and I've always loved their smaller machines, though they tend to suffer from Sony's premium pricing.

I just saw the Republic of Gamers laptop advertised for $800 Canadian (re-furb but whatever), makes me re-think my recent purchase :(
-
I wouldn't buy a potential sony netbook if I was paid to, sorry.
The new EEEs are pretty good. I keep trying to decide what brand I want, and everytime I think I've got it figured out I read about a new one coming out in a month or so that would be better. Sooner or later I'm gonna have to just bite the bullet and get one.

Asus doesn't believe in kings, they're a republic.

i am actually supersatisfied with my toshiba nb205. if they ever make an identical model with a 1366x768 screen, DAY FREAKIN ONE

omg I hate that resolution >:(
it's supposed to be 16:9 but it's not even multiples of 16 and 9 wtf >:(
-
i have no idea why it took off, many lcd televisions use it, too
-
it's a compromise between 720p and 1080, makes 1080i broadcasts look better
-
I actually think I heard it has something to do with manufacturing efficiencies, forget the details. still, NERD RAGE
