Sometimes I watch The Simpsons on Fox on weekdays...just to see if they're going to play an early Simpsons episode. They usually don't. :(

I gave up after seven or eight, can't remember. Hell, I didn't even know it was still on.

I haven't seen that many episodes, all told. Probably far less than a season's worth all added together. No plans to change that formula.

I never really watched it growing up, my parents weren't big fans of it, but I caught some parts of episodes here and there. Recently, though, I've been picking up some of the early seasons on DVD and they're really good. However, I still won't be watching the new seasons.

Last one I saw was the movie; before that, I don't know.  I didn't even know Fox still did the sunday thing.

When I was at the table reading the other month, I couldn't believe how old Nancy Cartwright looks.

And then when we spoke with Hank Azaria about his energy level, he was like, "Yeah, well, I think I've been doing this for uh, twenty years. Jesus. I just realized I've been doing this for twenty years." :lol

I guess it's nice to get steady work. Geez, 20 years, that's like soap opera long.

Yeah, the only person that looked like he was ready to hang it up was Harry Shearer, to be honest.

There also seems to be a kind of divide in terms of the writers, since there are a bunch of college graduates working for them now that were raised on the show and the old guard (of sorts).

I was privy to some of the internal politics, and it's kind of wild. I can't imagine what it'd be like to work for that production - it seems really competitive and it's such an institution that you don't want to fuck anything up.

Maurice wasn't allowed to watch such sinful programming, just like now he's not allowed to have cable at "his" house or own a non-Nintendo console.

On topic, I haven't bothered to watch since about season 8 or so.  What little I've seen since hasn't convinced me that I've been wrong.

We need to pitch in and buy PD that shirt.

I think I've seen maybe ten episodes since season ten. No joke.

There's been an uptick in quality the past couple of years, but nothing compared to its heyday. Don't let people fool you with talk of, "Well - hey! - it's better than most stuff on television!"

Well, yeah, YouTube videos of Maurice's homeschooled cock are better than most stuff on television. Doesn't mean you want to watch it.

Or do you? :shh

They shoulda stopped after season 10-11 (at the very latest).

I really hate the new animation style too. It looks off for some reason.

It's pretty amazing.  I never would have guessed it would last this long.  I remember seeing some of the shorts from the Tracey Ullman show and thinking it would be cool if they made a show out of it.

I was there at the beginning!

The show has been dead to me for a little less than a decade:

The episode where they went to Nashville was the first sign the show was turning to shit
The tomacco episode is where I knew the series would never recover from its shittiness

I did watch the movie and it was passable.  I heard the show is better now but I don't give a fuck.  The show died after Season 8 as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah, it is still on Sundays, surrounded by 90 minutes of shit quality comedy from Seth MacFarlane.  It's like Fox intentionally wants to kill off animated comedy, now that King of the Hill has been snuffed out.

Nashville? What about the episode where they go to New York?

Knoxville was the 7th season and New York was 9th season.  I knew at that point the show was on the decline but I didn't know it'd get as bad as it did in the 11th season.  Lindsay Naegle, Gil the Salesman, and Cookie Kwan is the trifecta of shit.  The more face time either three characters had, the worse the episode was.
