Too much Halo.
No wonder Bungie bailed out.
-
This is fucking distinguished mentally-challenged.
-
Looks better than Halo 2.
-
they should've went all the way and added some DBZ style powering up.
-
Too much Halo.
No wonder Bungie bailed out.
Bailed out to make more Halo.
and this video goes to show that anime can take anything and completely ruin it. you could take this video, replace the nouns with just about any sci-fi jargon and have a completely new show.

The same could be said of anything Halo-related. :teehee

it's anime, so it's natural that question comes up.
i.e.
is this a satire of cyber punk?
is this a satire of ninjas?
is this a satire of kids with daddy issues?
is this a satire of nuclear war?
die anime die
-
LOL, that video was so bad.
a) Halo is one of the least interesting universes out there. Making it an anime? Sheer genius. What better way to get people uninterested.
b) If you wanted to gain the interest of the himuweeaboos out there, why not make it a JRPG? It worked for Lord of the Rings. Oh, wait. See (a).
c) Master Ninja LOL

I wonder if Halo 4 will have a special "Punch Brute to make him puke" move/achievement?

im reporting this thread and every post in it :cop

Go for it, chief.

Back in Japan my neighbor was working on this :-\

I'll give it a rent. I was never really that big of a Halo fan anyway.
-
Fuck Halo. That is all.
-
What's with the breakdown of military discipline? Shaggy long-hairs in the marines?
Anyway... Microsoft/Bungie really screwed the pooch with the Halo universe. It came up in the ODST thread, but Halo showed much promise after the first game and the two Nylund novels set immediately before and immediately after. You had the overwhelming force and technology of the Covenant, a strange but deadly lethal parasite in the Flood, a sense that there was more to the story than the eye could see, that there was some sinister motive at work within the Covenant leadership, perhaps something known only to the Prophets. You had the sense that mankind was completely out of its league in the battle, yet the second novel especially allowed glimmers of hope.
And then Halo 2 and Halo 3 happened, and the Covenant never proved to be anything more than a doomsday cult. :-\
Yeah, the games are fun, but there is absolutely no point to further universe exploration. Maybe one day there will be a sequel to Halo 3 that unveils a larger purpose to the Prophets' workings, but I just don't know if they're up to the task.

The anime will totally improve on the situation. Mast-u-lu Chu-eef-du is a plunky 16 year old boy with everything to show the world. His burning hate for his infinitely manlier father drives him to search for his inner heart soul excelica zero. The evil Cov-u-nen-tuo and Fu-rud-oh are a burning hate force born from the vanity of the people of Neo Tokyo's soul extractors, the cybernetic implants that were invented by the Takasaki Zaibatsu to regulate people's inner heart calibur. Mast-u-lu Chu-eef-du and Spal-uh-tan 458 must join forces to take down the evil Takasaki Zaibatsu, who are secretly altering the warudo mana flow to cause people to become more vain. Also, there will be lots of sexual humor.
-
In that case, sign me up.

I honestly can't tell a good anime from a bad one. That Halo thing looked like every other anime out there to me.
-
thats because there is no such thing as a good anime
-
damn straight!
The only anime I enjoyed was in the Kill Bill movie and the Animatrix pieces.
-
I don't know why you guys hating on anime so much. Anime is awesome.
-
I've been meaning to give Gurren Lagaan a shot, is it any good or just typical GAF circle-jerk trash?

Do you like really over-the-top mecha action shows with lots of manly drilling? If yes, then you should enjoy it.

This mentality it hilariously close-minded. But do continue to draw from it, by all means.

Anime is just another medium, hating all anime is pretty much like saying you hate every single comic book, or something...

Sorry, not even close :lol
-
if by ever single comic book you mean superhero comics, then yeah i hate all of those too
-

well, they're both extremely campy mediums, it wouldn't be unheard of to hate both. there are exceptions in both cases of course (miyazaki and alan moore come to mind.)
-
comix sux XD mango is good kawaii desu ne ^____^

see, its shit like this

A lot of anime is campy and bad, there aren't too many people that will argue otherwise, but "anime-haters" seem to think that's all there is to it. Like I said, it's hilariously close-minded. But, whatever.
Are anime distinguished effete fellows liking this? What does NeoTokyo forums think of it?
Not so much in this segment, it looks pretty bland. There's six other segments though, so we'll see how they turn out.
-
Ok, now this thread is goofy.
Haters gonna hate.
-
I thought this was a landmark achievement for Japanimation, and the most innovative use of the medium that I have seen in awhile. The Halo verse lends itself well to animation, and I'm glad they pulled it off. Day one.
-
I really can't stand wathing anime. The static backrounds with non-moving people annoy the shit out of me.

I don't think it's that closed minded, I think it's mostly correct. Though I'm just being overcritical for fun in this thread (like in most threads), I have a little basis for it... Maybe they'll pass on Akira or Princess Mononoke or some other classic, which would be at their expense, but 9/10 they're correct. Not that I'm happy about that fact...I love watching hand drawn animated stuff and it bothers me that such a huge medium is so polluted. I know, the counter is that the majority of movies suck too, but I don't think I could get through every movie I would want to see in my lifetime, whereas "top quality anime" lists are often quite similar to each other and I've seen almost everything that comes up (including several series I've just let my standards go on and watched anyway, like Gantz and Elfen Lied.)
-

That's a problem with just about any animation that isn't a big-budget movie.
I don't think it's that closed minded, I think it's mostly correct.
It's only correct if everybody's looking at the past year or two, which hasn't been that good thanks to a downturn in the anime industry in America and lots of me-too shows from Japan. There's still a few that are worth watching, but probably not much that would appeal to people that aren't already anime fans.
-
i'm with kranz. most anime is complete garbage esp concerning series and it's just way too hard to find one that doesn't suck shit. i just can't blame anybody that skips them altogether.

Again, it's only hard to find if you're talking about new shows or just shows that are really popular. There have been plenty of shows this decade that are good-to-great, including series. I could probably rattle off about 20 or so without too much trouble.
-
New anime is shit and only proves any bad expectations for it. There is maybe one out of twenty shows now that is watchable.
This Halo anime thing is dumb and the trend of having side stories for popular properties done by famous animu people is getting progressively worse. Animatrix had a few good ones. Batman one had one or two watchable ones. This Halo one seems to continue the decline.
-

Well, considering there are about 100 new shows every year, that gives you at least five a year.
This Halo one seems to continue the decline.
Based on a clip from one of the SEVEN segments?
-
Based on the trailer, the clip and the fact that it's a Halo property dealing with the story.
And the clip wasn't even as bad as some of the Batman one. Spartan having a fight scene with a Brute is about on par with Batman punching a bullet while gliding.
-
well i just tried to watch bakemonogatari and phantom and they both bore me to tears.
new animu really are weak.
-
watch the animu i linked
-
that's still not complete and very short.
i rather save it for later.
-
Anyone know which studio did this clip? Cause yeah, this one sucked ass. I didn't even make it past the 1 min mark. But in the original trailer the Bones one looked nice and Bones can be awesome here and there.

It's one of the Studio 4c segments.
-
the new animes have been ranging from decent to complete garbage.
Even this latest season is filled with uninteresting crap or slightly tolerable stuff due to adapting its manga.
-
I started watching R.O.D. The TV tonight. It's pretty awesome. :rock

basically
but the TV series focuses on a friend of that chick and 3 new girls with the same power who become her bodyguards while the librarian chick has gone missing.

I do not like anime.
It is clearly a different culture than one I'm used to. A lot of filler build up episodes, overexaggerated emotions (near mute or extremely aggressive males, same goes for the females; there is little in between), the art styles look pretty much the same, and the general creepiness of the fans ruin the experience as well.
I watched the clip. I knew there was a Halo universe set up but I don't care much for scifi.
