Hi everyone!
A m8 of mine lent me Prince of Persia (x360) and Mass Effect.
I've heard mixed reviews about these titles, either theyre shit or good...
Which one should I give priority to?
-
Mass Effect is no turd. It's a really good game, although flawed.
-
Mass Effect isn't a turd, imo. The optional sidequests are ridiculously mindnumbing and I'd only suggest doing maybe 1 or 2 at a time but overall ME is a pretty damn good game.
Nate of Persia however....ugh. Is there a demo somewhere? If there is, try that 'cause that's all you'll ever need. If not, no big loss. The best thing about PoP was the trailer with Sigur Ros.
-
I hear Prince of Persia is short. Get it out of the way first.
-
Um, not really sure where you heard mixed reviews of Mass Effect from, considering that it got nearly universal praise and won a lot of "Best RPG of 2007" awards and a few "Best Game of 2007" awards. So, definitely play that.
Only Prince of Persia if you want Nolan North to rape your ears and like playing games where you can never get killed.
-
Mass Effect is great. Start with that.
PoP is ok. But not really worth playing.
-
The worst thing about ME are the sidequests. Avoid the majority of the sidequests and it's good, but if you're going to get all the achievements you're going to have to do them. Do all the sidequests the first run so you get them out of the way and never have to do them ever again.
-
The only sidequest worth doing is the earth moon mission. You get an actual beneficial in-game reward from that. After that it's all copy and paste boredom that's only worth doing if you're achievement hunting or suffer from RPG OCD.
I hope ME2 doesn't have the same sort of BS. :(
-
Yeah, the sidequests off of the citadel basically suck balls. Doing one or two at at time max in between story missions is the way to go.
-
Mass Effect. Prince of Persia's novelty lasts about 2 hours, then in classic Ubi style, it does nothing different in the rest of the game.
-
pop
-
Mass Effect isn't a turd, it has some flaws but it's a good game.
PoP is bad, it's repetitive and lacks any depth.
-
Mass Effect is GARBAGE, don't even bother to play it.
Play PoP easy 1000, so play that instead
-
Yeah, pretty much only play PoP if you care more about easy cheevs than you do playing a decent game.
-
play pop now, mass effect right before 2 release date.
-
POP is really hard to stay interested in for very long. I'm chipping away at it a couple of hours at a time every few months.
Still better than a Bioware game though.
-
I just stuck in PoP for a couple of hours. The cheevs flow like wine but the game is pretty boring. I'll probably finish it
-
PoP is god awful trash while ME is a pretty decent rpg

it shouldnt take you very long. i think i beat it in about 7 hours
-
POP. The repetition will get to you eventually. Mass Effect was a good game.
-
yeah I think I'll just play through PoP to get it out of the way. It doesnt seem too bad and I can handle repetition (I liked Ass Creed). The lead guys VA is cheesy and fun.
Ive never played a Bioware game but I just read the manual to Mass Effect and it sounds pretty neat, can you fuck up your character build easily or is it all common sense (like Fallout 3)?
-
It's generally better to go with a hybrid (ie: soldier-tech) class in ME. Generally the tech abilities are defensive and biotic abilities are offensive so it's suggested that you have a mix of both in your party. It's really simple to build a character though and just make sure that your guy has the assault rifle skill (it is the only gun you actually need in the game).
The inventory system seems really daunting at first but that's because it is very badly designed.
-
so I finished PoP, what a distinguished mentally-challenged game. It looked great and was funny, but the game was a good example of ridiculous hand holding. You cant die, there are marks all over the walls of where youre supposed to go, and if thats too much for you just push Y and the path is mapped out for you. I just blasted through it for some achievements then very happily removed the game disc.
As a result playing Mass Effect straight after made Mass Effect the best game I have ever played. Love all the chatting and backstory and stuff. It might even warrant 2 playthorughs... (one good, one evil). Totally bitching soundtrack (Richard Jaques :bow)

The ME soundtrack was so totally bitching. Hope ME2 has a similar soundtrack; EA will probably fug it up tho.
