What a keynote - if GT5 in 2010 and the colour-changing waggle ball didn't get people hyped for the conference, I don't know what will.

More or less. Imagine MGS4 controls on PSP, and if you played Syphon Filter or Resistance Retribution, you have the general idea of how it will be.

Capcom is killing it this generation.

The monsters are all sorts of awesome, but I'm not feeling the architectural and mechanical designs. A lot of straight angles and little modeled detail, at least going by the screens released so far. I guess it's just backdrop stuff, but it's featured quite a bit in screens and I don't think it's doing the game any favors.

We always talk shit about Kojima when he's not around and then everytime he gives us something to play we stfu because he's an incredible game designer. The control scheme is probably the best ever for a 3d psp game and the graphics/art/presentation is amazing.

This will be better than MGS4

I'm really liking it. It's exactly what I wanted from a post-MGS4 MGS game. It's like Acts 1 and 2, seemingly, as a full game. Most of MGS4 gameplay is still there, though the stealth setup is a lot more limited. Only big additions if you're a stealth user are the ability to chain CQC (3 enemies there, you can time it and take them all out) and the recovery balloon, which takes stunned enemies and removes them from the battlefield. It has a lot more of a combat focus, definitely Monster Hunter influenced. It's like MGO if it didn't suck. It's not a real story based Metal Gear from the looks of it and I don't care.

From the demo it doesn't seem like you can switch the analogue (currently movement) with the face buttons (currently camera). It makes a lot more sense to have movement on face buttons and camera on analogue. That's how I played the first MGS PSP and was able to do ok with it.

I don't quite get the triangle usage either. Sometimes it lets me hop up a small step, sometimes it won't and I need to roll up it. Haven't figured out the consistency of it yet.

And Swaggaz, the game will be as much a story MGS as Portable Ops, which despite being mission based still had a good sized MGS story.

Putting both that and FF at the same time means system sales spike in Dec and then free fall all of 2010. At least you'll get a spike in Dec now from FF and then March for GT. They just need something else for summer/fall to keep it going but I really don't think they anything that can do it.

Did you ever beat Portable OPs? I remember you were trying to hook it up to a TV just so that you can control it a little better.

Me, I just gave up after the first boss. Dragging prisoners back to the truck got boring real fast. The crappy controls/camera didn't help matters.

I was actually excited about the Go when it was first announced. I hate UMDs, but without a feasible option to convert your UMD library w/o repurchasing your games, the Go was doomed from the get go, pun intended.

Forget about repurchasing games. Most PSP gamers don't purchase games, period.

People buy PSPs for free games. It's incredibly arrogant for Sony to think otherwise.

If this is facetious, you forgot the rolleyes tag. If this is serious, you've forgotten that Sony is putting a non-removable, non-user-serviceable battery in for the stated reason that it will prevent (or make it much more difficult) jailbreaking of the PSP.

It's a copy of a flash game, not Braid. Braid took a lot of ideas from various flash games. The mechanic of time copies is also kinda popular now I guess since there is Time Donkey, the new Ratchet game, and an indie game (that won a prize a year or so ago, just forgot the game) that use it. But yeah, it's pretty old and it's no surprise that whoever is behind the Echo-whatever games copied it too. Even as a complete rip, it already looks more fun than Echochrome. That game looked cool but ended up so damn boring.

What do you mean by lax? They killed freeloader about as soon as it came on the market!
