Title: Cronenberg remaking his remake of The Fly?
Post by: The Fake Shemp on September 24, 2009, 03:23:08 AM
Quote from: Hollywood Reporter
David Cronenberg is returning to "The Fly."

The auteur will develop a reboot of the 1986 classic with Fox, the studio that released that film, directing and potentially writing the new pic.

The move marks an about-face for the Canadian director, who in the past has said he did not want to be involved on a remake of the film. Cronenberg did work on an opera version of "The Fly" that was staged first in Paris and then in Los Angeles.

Now I've seen it all. :lol

How could he possibly improve on that movie?  It's fucking perfect.

With CG, obviously.

With today's CGI technology he wants to do it like the original complete with the Fly stuck in a spider's web at the end. "Help me!"  :P

I'd rather see Dead Ringers with CG Jeremy Irons and regular Jeremy Irons.

I know he had nothing to do with the writing or directing but.... Cronenberg had a cameo in Jason X for God's sake. I'm sure he knows what he is doing, though, but he won't be able to top the practical effects that the 86 Fly had. Practical > CGI

I know it's trash but I love Jason X anyways BTW  :-*

At least David Cronenberg is going back to body-horror.

How long before Hollywood starts remaking remakes?

Better yet, remake movies that haven't even been finished.

"Um, yeah, when you guys finish with the scene, take a break so we can get our version of it done. Kthx."

I want someone to remake The Ring, so we can get a remake of an American remake of a Japanese adaptation of a novel (that plagiarized The Changeling).

I want to see him redo Scanners, if only for the exploding heads.

Scanners is the only Cronenberg film that I'd probably support a remake of.

Didn't someone try to remake that film?

I know, I'm still uneasy about the Yellow Submarine remake. Hopefully it doesn't suck, but it probably will.  :'(

:lol  I would be so into that.  Something like two girls one cup, 1 guy 1 jar, snuff vids, etc.
