Yeah, I think these spinoffs are cool and I'd much rather have a handful of random dynasty warrior mods than just more sequels to the existing franchises.

If this is done right I'm all over it and I'm not even a FoTN fan, but I do like exploding heads.

IIRC Gordon's not even in the multiplayer part of the game.

You can play Half-Life 2 single player too, but I never saw anyone bother with it.

I first heard about it when they announced it at TGS a year ago and I assumed it was quietly canceled or at least put on the back burner because there was no news about it.  But there's apparently a lot of new videos for it up on gametrailers from this TGS.

It's understandable that the graphics are like a generation ahead of the DW games because DW games have to be ported to the PS2, but I was much more impressed by the gameplay in the first N3.  The combo system just made sense and felt actually pretty well balanced while DW games just were button-mashy but maybe I didn't give it enough time?  Anyways, N3:2 looks like it has a more fluid fighting system and the graphics and all look a little better.  They even ripped off god of war a little with the QTE's in the giant boss battle.

Never saw those sample videos.  That's awesome...shows a HUGE improvement in animation over the other Musou games, the gore's intact, and it has more of a traditional beat-em-up feel.  They've also got new pics up of some of the playable characters plus a new teaser trailer (which shows Kenshiro WITHOUT the scars...WTF?).  In typical Musou fashion, they are giving the characters outfit redesigns.

The only good DW games are the gundam ones. And even then that's a stretch.

Nah.  I mean, I want Sengoku Basara 3 far more, but Hokuto Musou looks like it's going to be the next major step forward for Omega Force's games.  It would be pretty sad if this were to turn out worse than the PSOne Hokuto No Ken beat-em-up that Bandai put out.

Seems to be.  You can scroll up in this very thread and see the quote I posted about that!  Check out the new images/trailer on magic box (or Koei Warriors for higher-quality.)  It could still happen, but the newest info also shows Mamiya playable instead of Yuria, which makes a hell of a lot more sense.

Is anyone else ordering the Treasure Box version? If so, how are you planning on getting it? I've got a friend who wants me to order it, and I don't know how to ensure that I bag a box. Or box a bag.

I'm sticking with the regular version, but I doubt the Treasure Box will be hard to get in Japan, seeing how NCSX and Play Asia are still taking preorders for it.

Those Koei Treasure Box sets never seem to be worth the price they ask for them.  My local shop back in Kanazawa always had one or two available without pre-orders.  I doubt it will be difficult to find.

Eh I dunno, this doesn't have the typical musou appeal to me. It just looks like a shitty action game to be honest. But I don't care, I'm still getting it.

yeah, looks crappy, but I will buy it for the "ATATATATATAT" and "YOU WA SHOCK" moments.  It kinda reminds me of Berserk on PS2.  Not really a good game other than letting you cut up enemies with a big ass sword.

I mean, I have the fighting game on PS2.  That game is so broken but when you pull off a finisher and Ken's shirt explodes and the music plays...it's totally worth it.

and this is bought on 360.  Don't know why it's so quiet and I need music blaring over it.

i've loved fist of the north star for a long time, but with the quality and slowness of the game coupled with the pricetag for getting it day one, i think i'll be waiting a while.

I have mixed feelings on it.  It's not typical Musou because it's supposed to be an open-world environment.

It looks nothing like a typical musou title, aside from the waves of baddies. There is no overworld map pointing out objectives, it appears to be forced/linear, and you can jump all over buildings and shit. Seems more like a typical action game.

I'm hoping I can find this used and slightly cheaper seeing how I'll be in Japan 1-2 weeks after its released.

You got that right, Gundam-san. They're vicious when they suspect they can interfere with international trade.

...I'm honestly not sure if I'm joking or not.

But I did pre-order the Treasure Box version for a friend; amazon.co.jp had it for ¥3000 less than full retail, which is pretty great in Japan.
