Title: A few questions about Firefox | Now with Winamp!
Post by: PhoenixWright on December 13, 2006, 01:49:46 PM
I am in need of a few fixes about firefox

1) Whenever I try to download something, the download window takes a signifigant amounbt of time to load.

2) When I leave my computer idling for about 10 minutes (I don't have any power saving features or screensavers enabled) when I come back, Firefox is really slow and I have to use ctrl-alt-delete to close it.

3) When I click on a wav or mp3 file, if I for some reason accidently left-click it has to wait for Quicktime to load (Quite a while.) can I just disable quicktime from Firefox in case that happens?

I also have a few questions:
1) Which version of Firefox do you use? you can check by going to the Help>About area, and telling me your version number.
2) Which extentions do you have installed? Please list all of them as well as their version number.
3) What kind of computer do you have? How's the RAM, and how's the processor?
4) Do you keep your system spyware-free?

Finally, the quicktime link seems like you've got your MIME settings fucked up in Quicktime itself, though I'm not positive. You can check the settings by opening the Quicktime icon in your Windows Control Panel, and doing the following:
 >click the Browser tab
 >click the MIME Settings box
 >Check and see if the MP3 box is checked. If it is, uncheck it. If it isn't check it. See if that helps.
 >Check to see if the sub-setting for WAVE in the Audio - Audio only file formats area is checked. If it is, uncheck it. If it isn't, check it.

Hopefully this stuff helps.

I just upgraded to the new one, which is 2.0

2) Which extentions do you have installed? Please list all of them as well as their version number.
Adblock 0.5.3.043
Talkback 2.0 (Disabled)
VideoDownloader 1.1

3) What kind of computer do you have? How's the RAM, and how's the processor?
This one is
Compaq Presario SR1710NX Desktop PC (AMD Sempron 3400+ Processor, 256 MB RAM, 100 GB Hard Drive, CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo Drive)

4) Do you keep your system spyware-free?

IE is a disease

Firefox and Opera are the cure.

OK, with Winamp all the supported files aren't showing up when I go to open a file. It'll still PLAY them, but in order to get them to show up, I have to type in *.* or go to "Show All Files," and I'd rather not have the extra step if I don't have to.

Edit: I got the latest Winamp, and now have the opposite problem. "All Supported Types" is showing all files. Unless Winamp now supports .txt and .jpeg files, that shouldn't be.

For all you people who like Internet Explorer as your browser, you should know that you're getting spyware and alll sorts of garbage from sites you use to view it. My little brother really fucked up my parents' computer using it [to view porn lol] and it took James a little while to get rid of all the nasty stuff. They use Firefox now and everything's perfect.

If you use IE, run lots of spyware scans or you're gonna be screwed. It's yuckyyyy.

I wanna be knighted. If they knight females they probably call them "madam" or something, but if I were to be knighted I'd wanna be called "sir". It would be awesome.
