Though apologetic, Kanye West doesn't seem to have learned from his MTV Video Music Awards blunder.
This past weekend the Chicago native performed at the 'Common & Friends Benefit Concert,' a charity event that featured performances by Nas, De La Soul, Queen Latifah and more, where he apparently threw a fit backstage when he saw someone eating chicken.
"Why wasn't I offered chicken?" Kanye complained, according to several sources. "You want me to perform for free, [and] everyone is eating ... Why am I not eating?"
When a waitress tried to appease the talented yet tantrum-prone rapper, explaining that he hadn't asked for any food, Kanye replied angrily, "Well, I'm asking now!"
When he received the chicken he requested, he allegedly took one bite, then threw the rest out, as his girl Amber Rose stood silently at his side, and the rest of the artists backstage looked on "in awe." We really want to stop giving the guy a hard time because it seems a bit unfair at this point, but if this report is accurate, Kanye really needs to calm down.
He's just asking to be made fun of when he's demanding chicken, of all foods.
*sigh*
The issue is that he's furthering the stereotype. I remember during the MTV event, twitter was all freaking out that the N word was going to be replaced with calling people Kanyes.
Although I don't want to steer the conversation to racist shit, the guy is just a fucking loon and people let him get away with it.

That's the issue? I'm pretty sure the reason this is a issue and being reported is because he's a massive tool.

Well, it wasn't that it involved merely chicken, but as soon as he saw it, he demanded it. Granted, the quotes after just talk about demanding food in general, so it wasn't as bad as I thought.
that's right black people, please don't ever demand chicken or we white people will have no choice but to see you as less a human and more a stereotypeWell, it wasn't that it involved merely chicken, but as soon as he saw it, he demanded it. ::) ::) ::)
no, black people shouldnt be self aware about eating chicken or watermelon, if im in line at popeyes and see a black person i dont hear the fry dat chicken song in my head, id treat it the same way as if i was in taco bell, or any other place
hell even i am a victim of this shit, when i ask for newports im always self aware and sometimes people get outright awkward, and im one of those fags that orders chicken strips (with ranch) at any restaurant ive never been to before
oh and by the way, yes, it does "just happen", i blame dave chappelle for implanting it into the fabric of popular culture
edit: what i meant to include was that this doesnt happen in a real life daily basis as youre implying, but when a famous black guy infamous for whining about black shit allegedly whines about not getting chicken, that line does pop up in 99% of white peoples minds, not as an insult to black people as a whole, but anything that will stick to this guy people will throw at him, and this is one of them
I often ask my asian friends how many dogs/cats/fetuses they eat a year. Or if my middle-eastern friends eat some Keer (a paki fruit yoghurt that translates to "penis" in Iranian) I make the most obvious joke ever on them too. And all my paki friends get "curry!" shouted in their face at least once a day but they've never gotten mad from it.
Your misinterpreting his comment pd. The cross-burning types would enjoy tieing his bad attitude to his melanin and the fact that this story was about chicken just makes that plan so much easier.
wow i bet they all think you're hilarious tooYes, they do think it is quite hilarious because they laugh and then repeat the jokes for years. I'm only bringing this up to show how stupid it is for people to bitch out somebody that they know (or at least see on a well-moderated forum like this one) because they made a joke or comment about somebody's race.
i know borys gets shit on a lot here, but i think am nintendo's amaing ability to write shit posts 100% of the time day after day really needs to get recognized more often

No it's fucking stupid. Should all black people be wary of eating chicken and watermelon for fear of "furthering stereotypes"? Is that a debate or discussion that comes into the mind of the average non-stupid person? No.

And this from the racial and social failure that wondered aloud what the OKCupid response rate was between black dudes and fat white chicks.

As for the chicken bit, it's a humorous stereotype. I went to an office party where my wife worked, and in storms this black attorney dude hollering "where the chicken at, a black man needs his chicken." There's nothing wrong about it, but it is humorous.
American racism is really mediocre all around.
Well, considering that your typical American will make a reference to chocolate and watches minutes after hearing where I'm from (Swiss and Swedish, such an easy mistake), excuse me if I'm not too big on self defined "cultures" whining about stereotypes. And I still don't see any fundamental difference between cracking a joke about black people and white chicks, and black people and chicken. Embrace the stereotypes, or bitch about them. American racism is really mediocre all around.

the difference is that the stereotypes have been and still are used to dehumanize and denigrate an entire group of people that have been marginalized in this country for as long as they've been here. all those bullshit stereotypes add up to create a pretty derogatory view among most white people of black people that has all sorts of real-world repercussions. so i'd say it's just a little different than when someone comes up to you and says "DUR HUR HUR CHOCOLATES" or "FIX ME A PIZZA" to me.

It's hard to take the "dehumanization" angle seriously when we're talking about the perceived love that one culture has for one particular food. And once again, I do not see a difference between the "black man likes chicken" stereotype, and the "black men and fat white women" stereotype. They are both popular stereotypes, that are commonly used for comedic purpose. Now, if someone is seriously arguing that black people should stay away from chicken so as to not further damage their credibility, then that's obviously crazy. But making some kind of big deal out of select stereotypes simply because they refer to black culture seems more than a little ridiculous.
yeah but if a random person walked up to me and shouted GOULASH in my face id be like yeah you like goulash too? and kill them with nicenessWell I don't say jokes to random people. If I know someone and like them, I'll probably insult their culture, looks, sexual preferences. It's all out of love.
but if lets say in a parallel universe i was an indian and someone shouted CURRY i would put up my dukes for a reason nobody would blame me for
if he said something like CURRY AND RICE IS NICE however i would make the same remark/have the same reaction i would to something hungarian
what can i say im a sucker for cleverness and wordplay, hateful or not

Is that a debate or discussion that comes into the mind of the average non-stupid person? No.Anyone whining about Kanye furthering stereotypes is a drooling jackoff -- ostensibly the issue here is Kanye behaving like a pompous manchild yet again -- but you're full of shit if you say you don't see the irony of the situation. Some stereotypes exist for a reason, and even if they might not be true in a given context (like this one), it's not immoral to poke fun at the situation.
It doesn't "just happen." The thought didn't even cross my mind until this fucktard mentioned it. And I'm not upset with the racial aspect of all this, just the utter stupidity involved
If you thought Kanye West only loved himself (and Beyonce's 'Single Ladies' video), you thought wrong, chicken is also on that list. The Chicago rapper was spotted coming out of a Los Angeles eatery and when asked if he chose to dine on chicken or fish, Yeezy jokingly expressed his love for foul.
"Well the way I came up with that decision was, I'm kind of hungry and I just ... um ... I think I wanted some chicken because I'm black -- [so] you know I like chicken a lot," he said. "I'm gonna' do a commercial for chicken for free."
Although he was most likely being facetious, this is his second "chicken-related incident" in the past few weeks. West recently made headlines for throwing a fit over not getting chicken during a surprise appearance at the "Common & Friends" benefit concert in Los Angeles.
"Why wasn't I offered chicken?" He was overheard complaining. "You want me to perform for free, [and] everyone is eating ... Why am I not eating?" Adding insult to injury West allegedly yelled at the waitress when she noted that he hadn't actually asked for anything to eat. Once served, onlookers revealed that he took only one bite of the chicken before throwing it out.
Since his outburst at the MTV Movie Awards, West is making good on his promise to take some off, canceling his tour with popstar Lady Gaga. Lets just hope that his break also includes not talking to the paparazzi so much, because he's not looking too good right now.
