Sick of seeing that 40-day evaluation nag screen every time I open a zip file on my work PC.

The worst is seeing post-XP systems loaded up with WinZIP.

Because it's a rar file, and you need something to open it!

I only switched to 7zip a few months ago.

Why not? Works perfectly, I've used it for years. I just used it to download an album while "studying" at the library :rock

I use it a lot to download patches/addons for games

I have no idea.

Particularly with Windows' built in zip handling, I don't see the point of it. We work with some outsourced folks and they always use WinRAR to package up their files. >:(

although Windows Explorer's zip handling, while otherwise very nice, still foists that horrible Windows FolderBrowserDialog on you (how could they still have not gotten rid of that thing?!)

tried it

7zip doesnt give as many options when right clicking an archive or files you wish to archive so winrar wins out of pure lazyness

i think that was the reason i didnt like it at least

Yeah come to think of it 7zip doesn't have a text viewer like winRAR which was always nice (for viewing nfos :teehee)

It was better than WinZip in the day, and I never needed to use anything else.  It handles all the formats, and does it well, so why bother with anything else?

i dunno, what's the difference?  if it opens something, it opens it...i'm confused.  ??? 

I had 7zip too, but that's just b/c some people used it.

7Zip is really goddamn slow to compress shit.
