Game is looking to be fuck awesome, watch the 20 minute long video papangus. Bioware am back total, stench of past failures redeemed, etc etc etc.
Also, :drool @ all of the mage spells.
-
not the new shit, buy magna carta 2 instead
-
Thanks for posting htis, wondering how it will work on 360 and ps3 but it looks like so much fun <3

::)
Go away, troll.
-
Holy shit. This looks like BG in 3d.
-
This is on my list of shit people will buy for me for the holidays, but I will not buy myself.
-
yeah, the game is looking pretty good. I'm still gonna hold off until people give impressions, but the trailers made it seem like shit. I think it's just Bioware sucking at making trailers.
-
The trailers are very easy to hate on, but that Quick Look makes it look quite interesting.
-
I want this on PC but my laptop wont run it very well. Probably be slumming it with the 360 :(
-

Pretty much. It's hard to believe that the game could be as shitty as the trailers after watching that footage.
pilon- I go back and forth on whether to get it for pc or 360. I think I'll probably end up getting the deluxe edition from d2d or somewhere, cause it's only 65 and comes with the first expansion.
-
I might get this if the 360 interface isn't too disastrous. It's a shame my PC is such a bucket of farts.

Yeah, I'm having issues with my new laptop so I'm thinking if they're not ironed out by then I'll probably be right there with you.
I swear I saw a pic of the supposed controller layout...
ah, found it:
Doesn't look TOO bad. I wish there was a way to pause combat without bringing up a menu, but this is from the end of July so maybe they fixed that? I dunno.
-
The little I've read about the console versions didn't sound too great. Other than interface and performance related stuff, I think it was mentioned that you can't change the camera around in the console version (so it's only the behind the back view). They'll probably show more before release, which is in about a month I think. And a lot of the console news was from stuff before E3 I think, so they've had time to fix what needs fixing.
and just about Bioware in general: The Old Republic looks pretty good too. I'm hoping you can play it solo and doesn't have anything of the annoying aspects that plague other mmorpg that make them so boring.
-
The controls look alright I think, but the other stuff swaggaz just mentioned is a little concerning.
-

Shit no sale. over the head/isometric or bust.
-
yeah that's pretty lame.
Is this game multiplayer? If so we should make a Bore team. I'll even pick up the 360 version for it :smug
-

That picture right above your post has the right stick being designated for camera control ???

For rotating around the character and all that. Not zooming in and out from different perspectives (from the KOTOR/console bioware behind the back to NWN/BG/PC bioware isometric).
Again, it could have changed.

Glad to see the character creator looks fairly in depth. The wizard in that video looks like Lemmy. :lol
-
Looks hot
-
fuck ill have to wait till the new year then, cant afford a new pc till jan :(
-
will get this at some point, but fuck, what is with those weather effects?! :yuck
-
Oh god, it looks like exactly what i want, even from that fairly standard fight scene. But it also looks like an unholy nightmare to get that level of control on a console. Need reviews fast.
-
Better than I expected
-
Sweet looks like WoW :bow
i might cop this

ban this filth
DA will require actual strategy and choices, unlike your crappy chat client
-
The story doesn't sound much more advanced than WoW's, plus combat looks very similar to WoW's. But not as fluid lolol

BALDURS GATE IN 3D
TRIUMPH GIVE ME SOME DAP
-
*virutal dap*
pee dee, gtfo of here with your lame shit. it's a shame your mom won't let you have a real next gen console to play actual games this gen, but don't make those of us who realize that WoW isn't a real game suffer from your crappy circumstances
-
you can change the camera to a top down view in the console versions you just can't pull the camera way out like in an rts
-
Lol cardcheat stop your silly crusade against wow.
It's not my fault you guys waste so much money on non games. That's 3 console games a year you could be buying, or about 4 pc games. Think about that!
-
The character creator is up (http://dragonage.bioware.com/). Not a whole lot to do, but it gives you a taste of what to expect.
-
Going to mess around with the creator some tomorrow.

3 races, 3 classes, and 5 backgrounds/occupations. :-\
-
Will there be more in the final game?
-
You can get subclasses as you progress through the game iirc. So your mage could end up as a cleric or something like that.
-
nevermind

Ah, that's something at least.
-
This character customization sucks. I can't make my character look black no matter how much I try.

Wow, it's like there's no black people in this FICTIONAL FANTASY SETTING.
-
Black people never existed in fantasy times... they werent created until the year 1940.
-
:(

You don't even play any actual games on it, tho- DA would be the first, to my knowledge.
-
What about the Orange Box? I play that!
-
Since when, 2004? :lol
-
Trying to create a black male is impossible. A black female is within the realm of reality, however.
Nadia is a rogue.
All I need now is a confirmation whether or not you can go lesbo in this.
Also, those graphics are pretty blech. I put it on high and it looks so barf. Hopefully the full game looks better.
-

It's Bioware, so that's pretty much a given.

yeah, they should change their name to Lesbioware
-
I think I heard once that there is beastiality in the game.
-
for you guys getting the console version, they put up a quicklook of that one:
http://www.giantbomb.com/quick-look-dragon-age-origins-360/17-1528/
-
zzz console version
more pc version media please
-
it actually looks solid. It's more KOTOR than NWN, but that's a preference thing. If I do buy it, it would be on PC; I'm just saying.
-
I'm just disappointed there's so little game footage and a bunch of shitty trailers.
-
Ugh, the console version suffers from exactly what I was hoping WOULDN'T happen- the same Mass Effect like combat where you can't stack actions for multiple characters. Gawddammit Bioware.
-
Ok, one cool thing is that you don't have to sit there holding a button to keep the radial menu open. I guess they do learn occasionally.
-
The trailer movie at the start was horrible "You are the only one who can save the Dwraves, and Elves. Pick up your sword and ENJOY THE MUSIC OF DROWNING POOL"
-
Gamestar Germany:
Pros:
- Characters: the first RPG where your Party Members really have a huge impact on the story -> aside from atmosphere it also adds to the replay value
- Classes and Talents: many possibilities
- Quests: hands down the best quest-design ever seen. He especially liked a quest which consisted only of one 10 minute long conversation, where the player and his/her companions could heavily influence the outcome. Quality comes at the cost of quantity. There are not as many Side-quests like in Mass Effect for example.
- Tactical combat: very exciting, tactical battles
- Presentation of the story: film-like cut-scenes. Great conversations. Characters you really care about and which will stay in the players mind even long after the game is beaten.
- Beautiful locations
Cons:
- Graphics: One can clearly see that the game was in development for like 5 years. On the other hand graphics are very coherent (they call it the "WoW-Factor") especially in cut-scenes and conversations.
- Linearity: The game is more linear than BG2. There is very little Exploration. In most areas you can only go from A to B without any sideways ("hose-levels").
- Silent PC
- Too few items: there are only a hand full Weapons and Armors in the game (although you can enhance them individually with runes)
Overall the campaign takes 30-40 hours divided in roughly: (= meaning main story length)
- 40% fights
- 30% cut-scenes and conversations
- 20% Character-management (leveling up and so on)
- 10% Exploration
- Reviewer wanted to give DA even higher score but few bugs annoyed him so he took the score down a bit. However the bugs are such kind that they will probably be fixed in the first patch or so.
- When he mentions 30-40 hour length, he's just talking about the main quest. He doesn't mention the length of the whole game.
- Map is pretty much like in BG. There is a drawn map from where you pick your places to go. You can't walk from one place to another.
- About the linearity: most dungeons are "go directly from the start to the end", there's no second ways in. Another problem is that you can't really explore the world unless you have gotten that side quest first. So basically DA is exactly like BG2 in this area (I honestly don't think it's a con at all but opinions, opinions).
- Small negative: voice volumes are random. Some cut scenes are quiet, some are louder. However they played the German version.
- More weapon/armor models would be welcome. There's a lot of stuff that have different stats but look the same.
- Reviewer says he feels like nitpicking with some of the negatives. Overall the game is amazing.
92% (third highest RPG score of all time)
Also there's a page with 10 other guys giving their short rating for DA, all of them gave it 5/5.
-
Sounds really good.
-
It really does. Who all are getting this on day one? Are there multiplayer features?
-
I'm getting it. The achievements unfortunately look like Mass Effect's - expect at least 3-4 required playthroughs. Ugh
-
AFAIK there are no multiplayer features. And yes I'm getting this day one.
-
I'm gonna try to get it on day one, but that'll depend on whether I have enough money when it comes out.
-
ok, I'm getting this. I'm just waiting a bit to order since I'm hoping that ECA gets Amazon codes.
and it's awesome for a game you've trashed on since it had a shitty showing for so long to turn out so awesome. It's better than being surprised by a game you've never heard of.
-
BioWare's just not very good at marketing their games, bless their stupid little hearts. KOTOR came out of absolutely nowhere to be an awesome game, no one expected it to be as good as it was.
-
It has an oscar-calibur script.
-

Well, they didn't show SHIT for the longest. Just a bunch of stupid ass trailers. It was hard NOT to troll on it.

I remember looking forward to KOTOR and I'm not really a big Star Wars fan. And their stuff for Jade Empire and Mass Effect wasn't bad either. As much as I want to say that them joining with EA is cool, the trailers they've put out for their recent games are kinda embarrassing and, hopefully, misrepresent their games.

Let's post all of BioWare's twists and see if we can figure out Dragon Age's
-
what was the twist of the Sonic RPG?c
oh, and
:bow less number of quality sidequests in Dragon Age :bow2
:piss the same shit two dozen times in Mass Effect :piss2
-
I'm not sure, actually. I never finished it
-
:/ Console interface looks clunkyish. I guess this one will have to wait until I have a decent computer.
-
I'll buy if there's a demo I can test my laptop out on, the console versions sound like el-gimpo.
-

very disappointing

This explains what the reviewer means a little bit better:

Oh that's not too bad, but I do miss wandering into an area I was too weak for in BG1.
