Shigeru Miyamoto and the Nintendo boss Satoru Iwata chat about Wii Fit Plus, and Miyamoto discusses an odd fixation he has - guessing the length and weight of certain things. It's why he carries a tape measure. For real.
this is just pre-hype for Guess the Length and Weight of Certain Things (Wii).
For instance, I might guess that the table in front of us is about 1.2 metres long. Then I'd actually measure it with the measuring tape to check. If I got it right, I'd think: "I'm on form today!"

... And it's not just length: I also really enjoy predicting the weight and other measurements of things. So for instance, I'd pick up a chair and think: "I wonder how many kilos this weighs." Or I'd wonder how many grams a weekly manga magazine weighs.

And I'm not autistic. I'm just an obnoxious avp dude who likes to stupidly diagnose himself so I don't have to try doing anything.spoiler (click to show/hide)although I sure don't like eye contact[close]

my daughter is diagnosed autistic
just sayin'
Autism is highly heritable. I think we may have found the root of your fixation with horse nipples.
To, regrettably, ruin your joke, autism is highly heritable but not inherited.my daughter is diagnosed autistic

Is that autistic or more like OCD? It definitely sounds more like the latter, but granted I don't know much about psych. at all...Autistic individuals do display repetitive and compulsive behavior with objects.

Iwata:
Now, Miyamoto-san, I believe I'm right in saying that you were working on three titles at the same time: Wii Sports Resort9, Wii Fit Plus which we have been discussing today and, in addition, New Super Mario Bros. Wii10.
Miyamoto:
Out of those three titles, the one which went most smoothly was Wii Fit Plus.
Iwata:
I suppose that would be because you had a clear vision from the start of what needed to be done to improve the software.
Miyamoto:
Yes, that's right. I could see what I wanted to do right from the start, and thanks to that, I was able to devote my energy to New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

Could you imagine a Zelda or Mario where you needlessly collect items just for the sake of completion? That would be wild.
