Title: I just got a $35 parking ticket from somewhere I've never been.

It has my license plate on it but makes no mention of the make or model of car. It's some shithole 6 hours upstate that I've never been to in my life. I have 10 days from the date of the letter to either appear in court or send in the payment, and 5 days are already up in the time it took for me to get it.

What the fuck?


Meanwhile if this had been my car there would have been a second ticket for my inspection being 2 months out of date.

Probably someone with a similar license plate and the ticket information got put in wrong. You could fight it [and likely win], but it would probably end up being more trouble than it's worth.

I'm going to call tomorrow and have them either send me a copy of the ticket or state what make/model of car is on the ticket itself. Hopefully they will actually look at the ticket rather than my DMV information to supply this information and I can get off the hook. If not I'm just gonna have to send a check, I only have a couple days left.

Same happened to me down in NYC. They said I ran a toll booth though my car was 5 hours from there.  :lol
I called them up and they pulled up the picture of the car in question. Nope, not my car and they tossed it.

This is a parking ticket though, so I doubt there's hard photographic evidence like a red light camera or a toll booth.

I've tried calling twice but they weren't open. I'm gonna try again in a few minutes  but if it doesn't work out today then I won't have time to send in the money.

Well that was easy. Not only was the ticket already paid for but it was a Toyota, the lady was super gracious about it.
