Wii, never change. :rofl

Finally Wii threads are going in the OT forum.

:lol :lol :lol :lol at the end of the nuke video. building pop out of existence from the nuke.

Wii FPS controls are kinda neat in a gimmicky way, but the thought of trying to play competitively with them is awful.
-
I hate how the gun sways from side to side when you move wii remote. i'm still not convinced that FPS can possibly control better on Wii than even a dual-stick analog controller, let alone mouse+keyboard. Ironically, nintendo's "free form" controller is more restrictive on FPS (and on pretty much everything but minigames) than a traditional controller.

The only problem with Wii FPS controls I'd attribute to the Wii itself is being forced within the border of your TV (Red Steel 2 somewhat fixes this with motion plus and the PS3 diddle stick is another solution). A big problem is that the games have a narrow field of view. Pull it back or even make the games third person and it would help a lot. The entire gimmick there is that the wii remote is supposed to be your gun, but that breaks as soon you try to turn. To remedy that, devs make the screen act as one large analog stick, which kinda removes the idea of the wii remote in the first place. It's not accurate, fast or reliable. The gimmick is neat though, but both the tech and aspiration of the devs are limited. I mean, what are the chances that a small team working on a port of a two year old game would really try and fix any problems.
The port itself doesn't look too bad, though. Against FPS games from last gen, it looks solid. If you stack it up against CoD4 360/PS3/PC it would look a lot worse, but for once it's a game that looks solid given the Wii hardware. Most of the time devs don't bother at all, and rightfully so (see: Quantum of Solace Wii/N64)

That doesn't even look good for last gen, I don't know what you're talking about :lol
-
Have you played FPS games on consoles last gen? most were ugly and ran like shit.

It's what CoD4 would look like on a GameCube.
-
looks too detailed for a last gen game, but I can't really tell with these youtube vids.
-
This game looks like shit, but the intense 2v2 online multiplayer on display in Crushed's vid really makes you appreciate what Treyarch has done here.

At first I was like
WTF WHY IS THERE A 60FPS FPS ON THE DS WITH QUAKE1 LEVEL OF GRAPHICS. HOW DOES HANDLE!?!?!
Then I was like :iseewhatyoudidthere :teehee
-
I don't think it looks that bad. On par with a high end Xbox game, I'd say.
-
That last vid really didn't look that bad. It's on Wii so it's obviously not going to look like COD4 on the other systems, but it looks alright.
-
This is much better than expected tbh. Only gripes are lack of local play options and 30 fps. The bigger worry is that once the game is hacked (as in already before release) Treyarch only has a "micro patch" solution to work with.
edit: Notice some occassional pop-in too. May pick it up like a big hypocritical manbaby. Pointer controls are awesome, and they've even added a screen lock option which I think is essential for accuracy.
