So I'm going through NPR's 50 albums of the decade and I stumbled across this rap album from Little Brother, "The Listening," one I had never heard before. I just recently got into rap a lot more than I used to and I'm curious. I might get the album but I figure I'd get the resident rap specialist's opinion on it first.

The Minstrel Show > The Listening
The Minstrel Show is a pretty good satirical album on the state of black music.
That's not to say The Listening is bad, per se. It's just not as good as The Minstrel Show.

imo The Listening>The Minstrel Show, but I'm kinda alone in that opinion.
I like it. It's a nice throwback to 90s hip hop (the radio station theme is similar to De La Soul is Dead)
I want to hear St Cornelius' opinion on The Listening and The Minstrel Show btw!

I guess the concept of The Minstrel Show interests me more than what's presented in The Listening.

Agreed, but for me The Listening had better songs.

But The Minstrel Show has "Cheatin'"!
