OM NOM NOM NOM
I just watched a 1080p vid on YouTube (though probably really low bitrate) without drops in any frames. This is off a system that is equipped with a AMD 1.8GHz Venice... which is like 6 years old. The GPU Acceleration is being offloaded to my 8800GT.
It seems to be speeding up other flash related shit too, like flash based page ads and video on Hulu (which wouldn't slow my system to a crawl but would still effect its speed). Feels good man.
Just make sure you're using a Video Card that allows for Hardware Acceleration and updated drivers (NVidia mostly, don't know about ATi... apparently they have driver issues at the moment?)

in other related news:
IE 9 will take advantage of the power of the GPU for all page rendering and developers can exploit this using CSS, DHTML and javascript. In just three weeks Microsoft believes performance has increased for IE9 resulting in smoother rendering and improved performance. Interoperability and standards support is increasing and features such as rounded corner CSS support will be built in. A new JS engine will also be built into Internet Explorer 9.

Fixes are good though since all the flash adverts cause a CPU usage snowball effect (eventually leading to me having to stop the Flash plugin)
