Post by: recursivelyenumerable on November 21, 2009, 01:05:48 PM
the programs are good and the Backstage thing isn't as awkward as it was in the technical preview, but why'd they have to go and screw up the icons  :-\  I liked the 2007 ones  :-\

They installed that ribbon-infested Office 2007 at my work, and I still can't find anything I want. Everything is a chore. I want to switch to Open Office so they'll quit using Excel as a page layout program. Which is to say I have no hope at all for Office 2010 being /more/ usable than 2007.

the orb is now gone which makes it less confusing for some and you can customize the ribbon if you want.

Access 2007 seems to be causing a lot of problems at my work, rendering some databases halfway useless.

I like the ribbon but I'm in the minority.

I could never find anything in the menus in the older versions, though.  I'm not TOTALLY happy with the ribbon interface but it's better than what used to be there, especially now in Outlook.

I took a class on Office 2007 back in April.  Thought it was pretty easy to use, with the exception of doing more complex stuff like embedding a Youtube video in Powerpoint.  Sadly most of the class failed (having to make a five-minute Powerpoint presentation was just too much, I guess, because over half the class didn't show up from that point on).  I could have taken a test to exempt it, but I didn't know jack and squat about Excel.  Plus it provided many comical moments of ghetto-foolishness.

I'm also taking a course on databases that uses Access 2007 right now, which is so BORING.  I don't think databases are for me.  Also while CISCO peeps seem to make more cash, I think I'd rather stay on the MS route.

Powerpoint 2010 apparently has new tools that make it easier to embed videos, including from Youtube: http://www.powerpoint-2010.com/embed-youtube-videos-in-microsoft-powerpoint-2010/

I've never really used Powerpoint though ...

Databases are cool if you get into the theory behind them.
