Cum Gargling Anal She Males 9.  I hear it's the best in the series, but the 8th entry left me feeling rather disinterested in future installments.

True. If you notice, most of the movies I've seen are pretty standard stuff. Everyone's see Star Wars, Rocky, Jaws, etc. There are some classics in there too, such as To Kill a Mockingbird and It's a Wonderful Life (my two favorite movies). My mom would always rent these old movies that she loved as a kid, and I'm suprised many of them aren't on the list. Imitation of Life is my third favorite movie of all time, and I figured it would be on that list. Oh well.

Basically you could name off 20 movies and it would be shocking if I had seen 5 of them. Especially more modern stuff.

I've barely seen more movies than PD off of that list. I've seen 23. :lol

But that list is so damn skewed toward older movies. Bah, fuck that.

I dunno. I saw Singin' in the Rain for the first time about a month ago. Fucking loved it. Definitely top 10 material and a lot more fun than what I see at the movies these days. If movies were that fun I'd go to the theaters more often.

How is it skewed? Most classic all time greats happen to be made pre-80's.

The late 70s must've been an amazing time to go to the theatre if you are a fan of cinema.  Seriously.  Best time period ever.  I'm jealous.

The Godfather movies.  I really, REALLY need to watch them.  Once Upon A Time In America, too.

Up until recently, also Fight Club.  Missed out on it in the theater, and never got around to watching it on DVD.  Saw the last part of the movie on TV a few years ago, but never saw the whole thing, so I finally went and bought the DVD.  Great movie.

I still have the Godfather boxset in plastic, unseen by my eyes.

Also, as far as that list, I can not watch B&W movies unless they have Bogart or Cagney in them. So there is alot of classic stuff I have missed. The only Hitchcock movie I have ever seen is The Birds (meh).

I've seen pretty much every "classic" movie I felt the need to. At least 90% of that list Ive seen (and probably own half them). Some of you guys need to broaden your horizons! Sure, Robocop, Die Hard, and Terminator are great, but theres a whole world of OTHER great films out there.

Cheebs - get Vertigo, ASAP. My second favorite film of all-time.
PD - get on Casablanca, stat. I hate love/romance movies, but I love the shit outta Casablanca. Hell, get anything with Bogart.
White Man - no Lawrence of Arabia or River Kwai? Damn! Get on that, man. David Lean <3

Heres my top 10, if some of you are looking for stuff to check out. This changes pretty much weekly, but its genereally the same films that pop up.

10. Lawrence Of Arabia (Lean, 1962)
09. Oldboy (Park, 2003)
08. Ran (Kurosawa, 1985)
07. Casablanca (Curtiz, 1942)
06. Rear Window (Hitchcock, 1954)
05. Blade Runner (Scott, 1982)
04. Taxi Driver (Scorsese, 1976)
03. 2001: A Space Odyssey (Kubrick, 1968)
02. Vertigo (Hitchcock, 1958)
01. The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly (Leone, 1966)

Cajole I died a bit with your "fuck pre-80's" line.  :'(
The 40's, 60's, and 70's all destroy the 80's, 90's, and 00's.

I guess I should rent it because of the ones I seen on your list(all but Casablanca and Vertigo) I LOVE. Arabia, Blade Runner, 2001, and The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly are all top 10 worthy for me. And maybe Ran. It is amazing but I prefer Rashomon and Ikiru.

Solo, it's just my excuse for being so unacquainted with classic films. I blame my parents for never really subjecting me to any films at all. For example, I didn't even see Star Wars and Indiana Jones until I was basically in my teens, and those are made for younger kids.

I really need to put seeing Brazil high on my list of things to do. It's post-1980, too!  :D

You're like me in that sense. I love movies with good acting/preformances and I've always felt movies from the 60's usually have great acting all around. There aren't many, if any, actors today who are comparable to the likes of Bogart, James Stewart, Gregory Peck, Cagny, etc. They were leading men at a time when leading men were actually men, not pretty boys.

My three favorite movies (To Kill a Mockingbird, It's a Wonderful Life, Imitation of Life) all feature utterly amazing preformances from all the actors, and that's why I gravitate towards them so much.

That's the thing. There are no such thing as movie stars anymore  :'( I mean, there are popular actors that get paid lots of money, but none of them have the stature or iconic status of the James Stewarts, Carey Grants, Gregory Pecks, Humphrey Bogarts of that era. Its not even remotely the same. I always felt being a lover of film that I would born a good 20 years too late, and missed a lot of the golden era stuff that would have been so awesome to experience when it released. I mean, Vertigo still kicks my ass now, but Im sure it would have blown my mind in the 50's.

They're good, not iconic or great. Well Nicholson is, but he doesn't fit in your list. Or Ford really.

Leo...I haven't seen any of his movies, or if I did I can't remember them. Depp is cool. Ford...outside of Star Wars/Indiana Jones/Fugative I haven't seen many movies with him. Never saw Blade Runner.

You listed enough fantastic ford roles(including one of the top 10 films of all time, Blade Runner) to consider him a icon.

Ford is awesome:

American Graffiti (1973)
Star Wars (1977)
Apocalypse Now (1979)
The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)
Blade Runner (1982)
Return of the Jedi (1983)
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984)
Witness (1985)
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989)
The Fugitive (1993)

How can you compare to a career like that?

Even as a uber tough Rough Rider Teddy was rather pudgy, so Leo's gonna have to gain some weight. Which means Oscar...

Meh, FDR is overrated due to circumstance. It's undeniable that he was a tough, strong leader, but he was also very flawed; classic example of a deep rooted politician too concerned about getting re-elected and being liked - which is the exact reason why he totally ignored the civil rights issue. Teddy was a progressive from the core and addressed the issue far better. Although many would say Teddy went off the deep end towards the end of his political (not presidential) career, I will always respect him for doing what he thought was right, whether he had the support of a main political party or not

He isn't my favorite due to leadership and strength during WWII(those are important) but because of the New Deal. The New Deal is the greatest thing any Democrat president has ever done next to LBJ pushing for the civil rights bill then signing it(hell if it wasn't for vietnam I might consider LBJ one of my 5 favorite presidents).

What would you call Leonardo DiCaprio, Johnny Depp, Harrison Ford and Jack Nicholson?

Popular actors. Like I said in my initial post, actors today dont have that movie star lustre that the old ones did. Its not a reflection on their skills so much as it is a reflection of todays society. I blame the internet. Its hard to revere actors when you can watch their sex tapes or see paparazzi pics of them scratching their ass on a beach or smoking a joint. I guess what Im saying is they lack the mystery (and by extention, intrigue) that stars from the 50s did.

Forget Redux. It just adds 50 minutes of useless bloat. Go straight for the theatrical cut.

What the hell? So if a film was a tight, perfect 2 hours, you'd gravititate towards a meandering, off-balanced 3 hour cut simply because it's longer?

Both Depp and Leo are on their way to becoming icons, there's no doubt about it.

And yes, anyone who says Jack Nicholson isn't an icon is a fucking idiot. :P
Depp is I agree. But the fact he wants to do a 4th Pirate films worries me. He can't get so obsessed with the role.
So wait...they may do a 4th Pirate film?
