Oh gamespot.
-
camera controls, easier fishing mini-game, and auto-targeting support ftw
-
auto-targeting support?
-
Wow. How odd. Get a load of these quotes from the GAMECUBE review. Same reviewer as well.
"The combat controls are more conventional on the GameCube, since you won't be shaking the controller around to attack (though if you've already played the Wii version, expect to feel dumb when you start to shake your WaveBird and wonder why nothing's happening), but the Wii controls actually end up feeling more precise in a direct comparison. It's easier and faster to aim your arrows, boomerang, or other targeted items using the Wii Remote. It's easier to move the camera around with the Wii Remote, too. While the GameCube controller is more precise when it comes to swinging your sword, the easier aiming and spin attack make the Wii version's combat controls superior, even though they have a few issues of their own."
" You can't go wrong with either version of the game, but if you're still trying to decide, the Wii version is just a bit better."
If you don't believe me, these quotes are on the first page of the review. What at fucking moron Gerstmann must be. He actually says in the Gamecube review, that the Wii version is a bit better, but he scores the Gamecube version .1 higher. Hello stupid.
-
Oh wait...then Gerstmann goes on to say
"If you've played the Wii version, that'll trip you up a bit, but considering that the most likely candidate for the GameCube version of the game is someone that didn't get a Wii, this isn't a problem in any way. You can't go wrong with either version of the game, but if you're still trying to decide, the Wii version is just a bit better."
What a cop-out.
ARGH Tigerriot.

The GC version has aim assist. It's easy to pick off dudes with the bow-and-arrow since you just need to have the reticle in the general vicinity of the target.

Well, wouldn't you say that's dumbed down controls then, since you don't have the precision of the Wiimote? :)
-
Oh. The pointer is so precise that it was never an issue for me.

Don't hurt Drinky's feelings Cajole. ;)

Sounds like a crappy GTA. ;)

GTA is pretty crappy dude. The only reason to play those games is for the voice acting and the soundtracks, the actual gameplay is dogshit

precision and wiimote in the same sentence makes me looooooooooooooool

Have you even used a Wiimote? Its pretty damn accurate
-
Its pretty damn sluggish from what I remember.

GTA DOES need to die.
-
GTA's control and gameplay is dogshit. They could you know, stop and refine the game, but they just make it bigger and bigger, and leave in the bunk gameplay that drags the game down from being great.
Gamespot is just distinguished mentally-challenged now. I don't know what is going on with them. They rate it .1 higher, which is an obvious cry for attention but then they recommend the Wii version within the review? And why the hell were they reviewing VC games? "Hey I got the inside scoop on that hot new NES game!"
-
I cant fathom what earned the latest PSP GTA its stellar scores :(
-
GTA DOES need to die.
It has never been good past gta3. Ever.
-
Ok, this is one of the awesomest quotes ever from some kid over at GAF:
"Hiring this Jeff turd to review Nintendo games, specifically Wii, is like hiring Hitler to review Jews."
wtf :rofl
And I love the GTA series, even though the gameplay is pretty wonky. It's just too damn fun.
-
I'm GTA'd out.
-
Well, I haven't played San Andreas yet, maybe it'll happen then. I know that's what happened to one of my friends that loved the series as well. He said SA was just too fucking huge.
-
The GTA gameplay DOES need to evolve; III was so much fun because it was so new, VC was fun because of the soundtrack, and SA was fun because I finally got to be a black dude (and a fat one, at that). But the gameplay has been stale since III. I hope GTA 4 brings, at the very least, refinement to what's already there if not a whole bunch of nice new things to the series.
Zelda is staler than GTA.

Lol, Vice City is my favorite GTA game for this reason alone. I didn't even care about the story or doing missions in that game. I just cruised around the city on a bike while I looked for ramps and listened to the radio station.
I can't get some of the songs out of my head now. I have to play it once I'm done with my last final tomorrow. :-[
-
I have a feeling good ol' R* will pull through and make GTA4 as mesmerizing as GTA3. :-[ I'm not saying the series doesn't need to evolve, but what's there is something I love and enjoy, although I haven't played the portable ones I'm not GTA'd out yet. I've played through GTA3 a good 4-5 times in the past 5 years and I still don't get bored playing it.
