For what its worth that's just a personal thing. I totally get that there are games on it that are worth playing. For me and my personal tastes, there simply aren't enough to bother with the hassle of hooking it up again. I debated getting back into the Wii after the motion plus came out, but it seems like the dev support for that has died.

Not every system has to be for me and since there are plenty of other systems (360,PS 3, PC), I'm not one of those people who is always angry that their system is a more casual system now.

I keep it on the entertainment unit and diligently vacuum it every week. Lately I'm thinking I should pack it up but that would be admitting defeat.

I think by the end of 2010 there will be enough good Wii games for me to stop thinking it was a waste of $250.

I secretly suspect you're a closet ninthing.
But I simply don't crave another console. I've played a good glut of 360 at other people's places and I had a short stint with pc gaming. Had a ps2 and psp at other points. I gravitate towards Nintendo stuff for whatever reason and I'm really okay with that.

I will admit I fear the day 1080p sets become affordable because wii does indeed look like ass on a lcd. They don't make 1080p crt tvs either. :(

Between NSMB Wii, that new Silent Hill, tons of VC games I never got around to finishing back in the day, and checking out (:teehee) the odd Wiiware release, I'm kind of getting my money's worth out of the damn thing.

Post by: cool breeze on December 10, 2009, 01:46:51 PM: I asked on gaf a day or so ago and apparently there was going to be new awesome TV tech called SED, but it fell into legal limbo or something. It was supposed to be like a flat screen CRT, which sounds pretty much what you'd want for games.

And Plasma sets are still really great and way better than LCDs from my experience. The size limit for a TV in my room is 32 to 37 (37 is pushing it a bit) so I'm stuck with LCD TVs.

The once good battery's in the controllers are dead, the console wasn't even plugged into out new tv that we got back in april as well. And I went to see how thick of a layer of dust is on it and I could easily write something on the entire wii. I accidentally turned it on though and now its got the blue light going on all the time. I'm just gonna unplug it till I get NSMB.

At least the PS3 plays blu-rays. That's it's only saving grace keeping it plugged in to my set up while the wii is in my room with a pile of dirty clothes on it.

The PS3 at least serves as a bluray box and it gets ports of most major next-gen games so I would think it gets a decent amount of use (even though I don't have enough motivation to buy one). I just noticed that the Wii, the dedicated, innovative game console that promised to lower dev costs, doesn't really get much at all to play on it after all this time. First year or two was fine but now, it's maybe every month or so that a game that I might pay to play even comes out. It could have been a really good system, even for the hardcores, but it just didn't work out.

My hope is that they make the next wii more "conventional".
