I just made oatmeal with water.  but it's the quaker maple syrup/brown sugar kind, so it's already diabetes inducing without the milk.

I tend to use half milk/half water for hot chocolate and oatmeal, but mostly because I'm pretty sure I'm lactose intolerant.

i use milk with a quarter of the measurement being water whenever i make oatmeal. not only does it cook faster, but it helps with preventing the milk from burning which gives it a richer taste.

and people who use water instead of milk for their hot chocolate are assholes. all or nothing.

Sometimes I make hot chocolate with hot water. I won't have any milk so I just say fuck it, boil a cup of water and add it to some instant hot chocolate mix.

It depends on my mood.

How bout' microwaving chicken wings? Seriously, fuck that shit.
Microwaving most proteins (meat, poultry, etc.) messes up their texture.  Use your oven.  I don't even own a microwave.

I usually make hot chocolate with half and half and Mexican chocolate.  Most Mexican grocers carry chocolate bars made for making hot chocolate.  They have hints of cinnamon.  Not a fan of the mixes, but I'm a food geek/snob.  Nestle's dark chocolate mixes are a decent product, however.

Restaurants cook bacon in the oven.  It provides even cooking and very consistent results.  Try it next time, BT.  Preheat a 400 degree oven. Lightly grease a pan or cookie sheet with butter, place bacon on top and cook for about 10 minutes or so.  Drain on paper towel.

My nanny microwaves her eggs in the morning for my children. I didn't find this out until I tried to fry them some eggs on skillet and they complained very loudly.

My children are going to have bowel cancer when they grow up.  Then I will laugh at them.

I usually make my microwavable oatmeal with water first, then afterwards I pour a little bit of milk in it to make it sort of like a cereal.

and oh, today I made pancakes with water because I was out of milk.  Wasn't that bad.

What is a refridgerator for?

To keep food fresh for a longer time. I put everything except bread in my fridge: ketchup, chocolate (can't stand normal room temperature chocolate :yuck), butter etc.

I never even thought about using cereal or oatmeal with water :yuck.

Some people use yoghurt instead of milk.

Leper them.
You never want to refrigerate premium chocolate, Borys.  I'm talking about the good stuff such as Vahlrona, not Hershey's bars.  It causes the chocolate to chalk up.

How long does it take you to get through a bottle of hot suace? It's not like you're going to keep the same bottle for 6 months, so why does freshness matter?

How long does it usually taste for the hot sauce to get warm?

Ketchup is highly acidic, therefore, not an ideal environment for pathogens.  There's no need to refrigerate if you use it regularly.

Here's the 411 from Heinz:

Because it is a very acidic product, ketchup does not spoil easily. Once opened, in order to maintain the product's quality more effectively, we do suggest that ketchup (and any other processed food) be refrigerated after opening because refrigeration distinguished mentally-challenged fellows spoilage.

I've always kept Ketchup in the fridge, but a breakdown on the hot sauce thing from my perspective:  It's not bad or anything, just weird.  Growing up I've been to a variety of houses where people had hot sauce.  The whities always had some crap like Tobasco (for "kick", not flavor..which is a double failure there) in the pantry, black friends usually had a variety of brands that I don't remember (in the pantry, again), and Asian friends always had Sriracha on their dinner table.  I've always thought the Asian friends had the right idea.  Hot sauce is more like salt or better where you adjust to taste for a variety of meals at the table.  Ketchup if fine in the fridge because you know that the amount you put on or on the side of what you eat is enough, but sometimes the taste for hot sauce changes, like with salt or pepper.  Keeping it in the fridge just seems weird because you don't need to.

I also don't mind if the ketchup is cold.  I like that contrast in temperature.  It's why I like putting a tomatoes/lettuce on a hamburger or taco.

Also, Ranch + Hot Sauce is why Black America is experiencing a health MELTDOWN. You like white people food AND black people food!

Jaybo's Hot Chocolate
Start to finish: 15 mins.  Makes: 6 cups

2 ounces unsweetened or semisweet chocolate, coarsely chopped, or 1/3 cup semisweet chocolate pieces.
1/3 cup sugar
4 cups milk (who'd use water?  ::) )

In a medium saucepan combine chocolate, sugar, and 1/2 cup of the milk.  Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture just comes to boiling.  Stir in remaining milk.  Heat through, but do not boil.  Remove saucepan from heat.  Beat mixture with rotary beater or immersion blender until frothy.  Serve in mugs.  If desired, top with whipped cream or marshmallows.

I'm pretty sure I used 2 ounces of semisweet chocolate.  God, so gooood...  :drool

strawberry milk is an anomaly.  Looks like pepto bismol and tastes nothing like strawberries or milk.

Also, I've never liked white milk by itself. Good with cereal, whatever, but by itself it makes me want to throw up.

I put this on everything

Flavor explosion :drool

Its a blend of garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper and dry oregano. Its damn good when frying up stuff (mainly chicken and pork). I have a sort of beef stew (to accompany rice) that sitting in the fridge that's seasoned with it (also with sofrito, sazon and tomato paste). OM NOM NOM. I'll try and take pictures tomorrow.

I've done this to quickly heat up water for tea ( :-\ ) and hasn't happened. But when I read about water exploding, I would take the water out with caution. I think you have to leave it in there for a good while to reach such a point though (I think its due to the molecules being super heated, so when you move the cup it agitates the molecules and BAM! hot cauldron bukkake).
