I just downloaded this for my iPod to see what it does, and suddenly felt trepidation about entering my gamertag and username in the login. It dawned on me that this is a third-party app, one with which MS currently is having some contention; they've asked the publisher to remove it from the app store.
It was free when I just downloaded it, but it was previously US$2. MS had issue with the not-for-profit agreement required for external devs to implement XBL integration.
The app itself says that login info isn't stored anywhere other than locally on the phone, and I'm inclined to believe it is not sending my information to some other company even as it logs me in -- but then I remember the last couple scams (I'M STARING AT YOU LYTE EDGE), and I'd feel a complete fool if this turned out to be a trojan horse.
Anyone else using this app, or one like it? Any opinions on whether or not this one is safe?

Android has an app like this, but rather than logging in you just type in the gamertags you want to know about and it just shows you the info for them. It's more neatly organized and more private.

Why the fuck would you need this on your phone?
The idea is to find out why anyone would want this on their phone.

Well on my Pre I just have my XBL homepage thing bookmarked.
Also the android one multitasks with notifications :o

Naw, it's the one in The Featured Article from the OP. Juan Xavier Larrea is the seller/publisher. Here's an iTMS link (http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_EHOg-lMZMG4/RuKpS8lOf6I/AAAAAAAAAQI/LJ8yZ5zHVlc/s320/clip_image036.JPG).
