I don't remember if I voted for wii catalog or wii music last year.  I think wii music was a given last year.  Other than The Conduit and Dead Rising Chop till you drop, the Wii games this year weren't too offensive.

actually, strike that.  Dead Rising chop till you drop took one of my favorite games this gen (maybe my favorite 360 game) and farted in its mouth.  Piece of shit total.

I pretty much dislike everything about MW2 but it's got some redeeming qualities for co-op and multiplayer. Unlike the Wii, whose software only has a redeeming quality when trading it in for pennies on the dollar at gamestop.

I actually quite like Uncharted 2 from what I've seen and what little I've played and think it arguably deserves GOTY but its pretty easy to see the hypocrites as people praise a game that is pretty much everything they claim is wrong with gaming. Linear. Forced path enemy spawning killathon. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that of course. It just makes it that much more humorous to spot the bullshit.

Its not as good as COD4 in every respect, but its starting to grow on me.

And Uncharted 2 is not anywhere close to as good as advertised by media or gamers. I ranted about it in the OT thread a month or so back

My take on Uncharted 2 is that its an undeniably great game. It just so happens to have some of the worst fanboys on the planet supporting it, and not actually analyzing the good and bad in it like they like to do with every other game, but that comes with the territory. At least its a truly great game. Unlike Killzone 2 which has the same rabid support from places like GAF for the same reasons but isn't nearly as good a game.

I don't think so. I barely finished SP, despite really liking the combat throughout most of the game. I hope that they drop the focus on the "theater of war" a bit for the next one, and include some beauty into the game, which the first game had. For me, it basically failed because the Guerrilla artists did too good of a job. They already have A.I. and weapons down, hopefully they can deliver some sets worth fighting over.

And MP turned out to be a mess, because beta testers were too busy acting like fanboys to allow reports of some pretty damned massive class issues and other problems.

Uncharted 2 actually isn't that linear in the same sense that CoD is.  It's more arenas that you can tackle in different ways, even starting out using stealth.  It's a bit like Halo in that way and why I thought it was more enjoyable than other shooters but in the end not really the type of shooter I enjoy most.  And I do feel like I'm a bit lost when I see the overwhelming praise for the game.  But I feel out of touch for most things gaming related now.  I think Splinter Cell Conviction looks awesome but according to gaf I need to hate on it because it's not the exact same game as the past five Splinter Cells.  Wait, I'm also supposed to hate on a game that's the exact same game as its predecessor.

I'm not going to get into a long Uncharted 2 thing because I enjoy the game. I think it's GOTY material. But from what I played it was fairly brainles nothing special AI I was fighting that would often spawn directly behind me to get in cheap shots. It wasn't that different than many games I've played including Gears of War or MW 2 in many/most cases. It was trigger on AI that once it "detected" you alerted everyone and they always knew where you were. That's fine though. It's a videogame. None of them are perfect which is why I never try to pretend any of them are. (not aimed at you) What's enjoyable about that game for me is the story and the basic cover gameplay mechanic being solid. And that it looks great of course which helps with the immersion. It wasn't smart AI because I didn't think it was or amazing combat setups other than the very scripted ones like the train chase. This is a quick shorthand take on the game which isn't completely fair of course especially since I haven't played all of it, but you sort of get the point I'm aiming at.

What bugs me about certain fanboys as a generic statement is their ability to completely stop analyzing a certain game and then analyze a different game in a completely different or critical manner to maintain their illusions.

Yeah, but this was one of the Wii's strongest years imo. Little King's Story, NSMB, Sin and Punishment... there were some quality games at least. :P
