I got my 360 a few months after launch. No real problems with it. But I'm playing Assassin's Creed II now. I'm getting some odd graphical glitches... lines coming out of my character and going off into infinity... color problems on some maps... checker color pattern across the screen... sometimes it will do a constant static audio thingy... and of course total freezing of the system. I had to replay the first assassin's tomb about twenty times to get through it without it freezing up. Am I about to join the RROD club? I haven't been able to find anything about ACII having these problems, so I'm thinking it's the hardware.

Yarp, its done for
-
Well, it's lasted pretty well for a (near) launch unit. I wonder if any warranty program still applies to me.

Yarp, 3 years from purchase for red ring
-
Do I have to wait till it actually red rings?
-
That would be preferable since they may or may not check it
-
I just cleared my cache. It's playing fine now. *shrug

Just to be safe I'd replace it. Replaced my launch Pro with an Elite last year.

yeah they are cheap as chips now, your 360 had a good run from the sounds of it.
