-
i'm terribly sorry.

if it's anything like The Prestige, they'll know in the last 10 minutes SO HARD that it'll make their eyes bleed.

As dramatic as it is, the trailer gives you absolutely no idea what the movie is about but according the one sentence explanation on Wikipedia:
A contemporary science fiction action thriller set within the architecture of the mind.
:wtf
I'm betting it's going to make a bunch of grand but ultimately baseless metaphors like The Matrix and try to cover that up with some eye candy (which is all that this trailer even had). I'm probably going to dislike it but we don't really know shit at this point.

more like Inception trailer thread #2

When I see that trailer, the first thing that comes to mind is Ghost in the Shell. Not so much from the look, since it appears to be present day or close to it, but in some of its ideas. It seems like it's probably a world where people can connect their minds directly to computer equipment or the internet [something like that], like how everyone in Ghost in the Shell had cybernetic brains. From what I can tell, Leo is some kind of idea thief who infiltrates people's brains and looks around for good ideas to steal and use for his own.
"Your mind is the scene of the crime."
It means that Leo's gonna break into your mind and steal a bunch of stuff. Like if a thief broke into your house and stole your TV, then your house would be the scene of the crime.
The bit about not recreating things from your own memory is probably a way of not leaving behind anything that can be used to track you down.

Yeah this movie doesn't really interest me at this point. I fucking hate it how people are already hyping it.

I get the concept and I understand that the point of the movie is to explore the metaphysical world but usually, these types of movies have a lot more inspiration than ideas. Like they just make some gimmicky characters and throw out some "shocking" twists and try and fill up two hours in between (see: The Matrix). I'll probably watch it but I'm not setting my expectations high.

Yeah, I mean the director's nothing special. What's he done anyway? Not much, basically. Leo's a pretty overrated actor too, he's no Christian Bale that's for sure. The movie looks pretty bland too, it'll probably just be a lot of talking and not much else.

^Agreed on all points.

So is this movie sort of like the live action version of Paprika? :wtf

It seems like it melds some ideas from Paprika with some ideas from Ghost in the Shell.
-
Paprika was better when it was called Dreamscape (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dreamscape_(film)).
-
Looks fucking awesome. Christopher Nolan hasn't let me down yet.
I mean, except for Insomnia.
But that was just a remake.
But maybe this is like a remake of Paprika.
OH NOES
-

I'm sure if you dug around long enough you could find some weird comic that Christopher Nolan ripped off.
-
"Inception: Better than Paprika, Dreamscape and some weird comics."
-
That's what I'm going to name the official thread.
-
Looks interesting I guess. JGL is in it so :uguu~
-
Trailer was alright. I would like to know what the fuck the movie's about before I get excited about it.
-
I'm going to see it no matter what, so I don't care that they don't explain anything. I like it better that way.
-

Hollywood wants more people like you.
-
Willco trained me well

Good. The notion that the entire plot of a movie should be explained, including twists along the way, in a TRAILER is absolutely ridiculous.
-

Fucking A! I don't even know the name of the characters yet.
-
Memento :bow :bow :bow
Insomnia :-[
Batman Begins ::)
The Prestige :bow :bow
TDK :bow
Day one. I think I'll wear a blazer, some slacks, and a tie to the midnight showing
-
Seems cool. Leonardo DiCaprio is awesome.
-
I only like 2 Christopher Nolan movies. Hmmmm.
I'm shocked you even like one.
-
I thought that was Christopher Nolan in the trailer!!!
-
I only like 2 Christopher Nolan movies. Hmmmm.
The two Batman movies were pretty good.
-
The Dark Knight is really good.
My world is shattered.
-
Ellen Page is the new Neo I take it? :yuck
I'd rather Keanu Reeves reprise the role.
-
The Dark Knight is really good.
My world is shattered.
I made a whole thread about liking it. I think it's bloated at the beginning and especially the end, but overall I thought it was really good.
I must have figured it was someone else.
-
I thought The Following was pretty good, if a bit gimmicky. The Prestige is fantastic until it the end when it assumes the audience is composed of fucking imbeciles.
The only Nolan movie I really hate is Batman Begins, which is terrible beginning to end.
-
I can't get behind that.
-
This does help me put your scale in perspective, though.
-
Is it because Daniel Craig makes your homoeroticism bubble to the surface?
-
As Glen Shinobi might say, "Did Ian Fleming donkey punch your mom?"
-
No trolling, I really have never liked Bond.
-
I've watched and enjoyed all of Nolan's movies.
-
No trolling, I really have never liked Bond.
Leper.
-
I watched Live and Let Die a few days ago, and it had a super-hot Jane Seymour, blaxploitation, and Paul McCartney, what's not to like?
-
I never liked any Bond movie either.
The whole thing is always just... meh.
-
Count me in on the Bond de-appriciation crowd.
-
Saw the preview for this when I saw Sherlock Holmes, wasn't very impressed.
-
I liked the older Bond movies alright, but the plots, the character and his trademark traits feel superfluous these days.
-
Also why does Am Nintenho watch movies? It's clear he isn't a movie fan.
No, I just like good movies like the Hurt Locker which was my favorite movie so far this year. Inception's trailers are probably going to set everybody's expecations too high and the fact that there's no solid background on the characters and the setting in these trailers makes me think well, you know that the writing sucks balls. There's nothing to be excited for yet but the trailer thinks that you don't know that.
