Get to Narita at 5:30 PM which means I won't get to my apartment until at least 8 (I'm thinking 9), then showering / time with my girlfriend / pre-gaming before going to Ageha. My friends want to go to Camelot (broke-ass Japanese HS den), but I'd rather get boy band drunk at a house party, go to a normal bar, or just do nothing at all than go to that shit. Besides, I can't imagine anything much better than Boom Boom Satellites when I am housed beyond belief.

Cook some chicken wings, grill some potatoes with garlic/peppers, find a veggie I haven't cooked before, and make a nice batch of lemonade.

Unfortunately everyone I would want to spend time with is out of reach so my only options are to drive 4 hours north or 4 hours south for 2 festivals, both would cost me $100+ in ticket/petrol/alcohol and since I need to move in a month I can't afford to spend the money.

I will be spending the last day of the decade alone :'(

I'll be oncall as well, so no drinking for me either.

But New Years Day myself and a young lady I know will go out and do something. Then I'll be with some other friends Ice Skating in Atlanta Saturday.

I'm not on call officially. But I'm always on-call unofficially, especially lately. :-/

Anyway conference calls all morning, work until 8PM probably, then going to a local (and wonderful) little German place for dinner at 9PM. Then home to enjoy a fine drink and some strategy games until 4:30 AM or so, at which point I will nerd out until 7AM watching the OSL semifinals cuz I am gay4starcraft.

Oh snap. Any especially good match-ups to watch? I burnt out on SC a while ago so I'm pretty out of the loop, but I still enjoy watching the occasional pro gamer tourney. Is the competition still mostly dominated by Bisu, Jaedong, Flash, and Stork?

edit: Half my friends apparently ditched me and went out of town to visit family so I'm probably just gonna be getting high and playing Fallout tonight :gloomy

Those four are still totally on top of their game, but there are a couple of newcomer Zergs-Calm, Effort, and Zero-trying to get their names in with those current superstars. Calm is actually playing tonight in the aforementioned semifinals tonight against Flash, who has literally been unstoppable for months now. Calm winning would be a huge upset for sure.

It's a best of 5, and in the game's most watchable matchup (Terran vs. Zerg). Should be great.

Ha I haven't even heard of those guys. Crazy how many great players are constantly popping up.

Well thanks for the heads-up. Flash was always one of my favorites because of his age, so I'll probably be watching tonight if I remember.

Did this for the first time a couple of weeks ago, at my brother's girlfriend's birthday party.  It was a lot of fun, although over half the people there got bored with it after playing just once.    :'(

Was gonna sit around, watch 28 Days Later, and install Windows 7 on my macbook like a loser, but then something really fucking awesome came up, and so now I don't have to do that dorky shit.  I landed a copy of Bayonetta, so I'm playing it all night instead.  while installing windows 7.   :zzz

So the family came over and we ate dinner, then watched the ball drop on TV.  Nothing special.  Dick Clark seemed a little more coherent than last year, but it's time to hang it up.    I gotta get up in six hours to take my in-laws to the airport though.  At least there won't be any traffic.  Then it's probably back to sleep and maybe we'll go watch Sherlock Holmes later on today.  My wife goes back to work on the second, but I still have another 10 days until classes start.

She is currently working at a supermarket; didn't have too many options.  Up until last month her main focus here was going to ESL classes at a university down the road, but she really wanted to get a job too.  It took months of trying just to land the grocery gig.  Her English has already gotten noticeably better from having worked there for about a month now.  We figure once her English has gotten better, she'll be able to get something better.   We don't care if she goes back to school now that she has the job, since she seems to be picking up far more English working than she ever did from the classes. 

There is a small Japanese community here, too.  My wife started out working at a Japanese restaurant, but it was awful trying to get there since they wanted her to start work right in the middle of rush hour.   :-\  Probably better than she's working at the supermarket anyway.  My buddy's wife (also Japanese) works at a Japanese bookstore, and her English is much worse than my wife's, despite them having been back in the States for like two years now.

New Years was awesome. Whirlyball, good beer, homemade fajitas and nachos, Settlers of Catan, Sasuke 24 livestream, more good beer, and brunch the next morning.
