it's a loot-heavy game with random drops. it has no respawning enemies. 2/10. german game design self-annihilated.
-
i like random drops. unless you mean "random" like Dragon age where you get shitty herbs 99% of the time
tell me more
-
if there 're no respawns, you have a fixed (and pretty small) number of chances to get that awesome drop, or to get gold to buy random loot from the vendors. in the starting area, there are 50-ish goblins and some skeletons. once they are dead, that area is empty forever afterwars. if you got nothing worthwhile from them thanks to a crappy seed, you are stuck with crap. no respawn actually makes random loot UNappealing, which is some sort of cardinal sin in my world.
-
sounds like a wii game
-
i bet it runs like crap, too
-
Which is better: a loot game with one enemy that respawns whenever you quit/reload the game, or a loot game with 10,000 enemies who never respawn?
-

Yep.
-
i think it would be cool if your enemies were the loot
like, there'd be some vestment of flaming or whatever running around with legs and a weapon, and you'd have to chase that fucker all over the place
then when you killed it you could wear the corpse
-
eel, i am sure the russians have either made or will make that game
-
someone investigate, i guarantee i will play it
-
Titan Quest does actually have enemies wear and wield all dropped loot.
-
more like this

only there'd be a magical bra or an enchanted pair of chaps standing there
-
a loot game with 10,000 enemies who never respawn?
I think that's pretty much how this series of games has been from the start.

Prole is right. Sounds almost like Kings Bounty

That is correct. I bought the original off GoG and it sounds exactly like what Prole is describing. It is very easy to fuck yourself over because you can't afford potions and health doesn't regenerate and there are no monsters that you are able to kill. :teehee
Speaking of which, how open ended Divinity 2? I almost felt that Divine Divinity was too open ended and I was aimlessly wandering around for hours making zero progress.

It's really not that hard. You can always find some monsters that will be a fair challenge to you and will allow you to level up.
For your information, you can sleep to regenerate health, and once you save the wizard in the first village he'll heal you for free as many times as you want.
I think that if DivDiv would've had regenerating enemies on top of that, it would have been just too overwhelming.
DivDiv is one of my favorite games of all time, I loved almost everything about it. Beautiful 2D sprites, vast open world, tons of secrets, some really original sidequests, good accessibility, great humor and one-liners among others. The game never takes itself seriously and it's so amusing to explore new corners of the map to discover what hilarious encounter you're going to have next. It's a full-fledged RPG as well as a mindless slasher. Most of all, it's got amazing loot! I never get crazy over loot in any game, yet in this game I did. I spent hours and hours grinding just to get new cool stuff from the dwarf blacksmith.
I used to get into the more dangerous zones with a freezing sword and I'd kill incredibly powerful monsters who were way beyond my current level. Though sometimes I'd hit like 1 times out of 15 since I invested all my stat points in strenght and had almost no dex. :lol
Divinity 2 is a much smaller and shorter game, but I'm still hyped as fuck about it. I pre-ordered it on Impulse and I can't wait.

I didn't know that about the wizard restoring health. Thanks for the info! I'll get back to it someday.

I'm playing this and sort of digging it in small bits. It's incredibly unpolished, has overly simple combat, but at least the Broken Valley starting area is bursting with stuff to do and explore and I'm sort of a sucker for that.
I'd say basically wait on this until they get some more of the issues patched up. It's going to be sorta janky running even on good hardware no matter what, and the combat looks like it's always going to be pretty simple/weak. It's not helping that no matter what I try I can't get AA enabled in the game on my nVidia card, which makes the visuals look even worse than they are (and they aren't the lookers to begin with).

I tried playing this one (didn't get very far) but it just seemed like there are better time investments if I'm going to spend it playing a somewhat janky game.
Speaking of janky, I still need to get back to Drakensang some day....
